Listening to Melinda reminds me of interviews decades ago with Sarah Vaughn. Two women with the most beautiful voices ever! Melinda is far too much for American Idol to handle! What a star! God give her success! She deserves it, such a lady!

I am a Jordin fan, however Melinda is a brillant singer, too good for Idol in fact. She will do much better not winning the competition and going on to her own career. Jordin really needed Idol to do well, which she certainly will. Blake will have a wonderful solo career. Jordin will (hopefully) follow in Kelly's footsteps, and Melinda will be a broadway sensation.

Melinda is an artist whose voice is able to express an incredible range of emotions. She can elevate a song to an epic level that is deeply moving. Any little thing to say it's british. That song was in the movie musical "Oliver" made in Britain in the 60's. So Idol had to find something since they couldn't get Michael Jackson permission to use those songs by The Beatle. All Michael asked is that they let him perform that night - and Idol didn't want that. MJ may be strange, but I'll bet that would have been the best show Idol ever had with a guest performer.

technically it is about a wife beater. the song is from the musical oliver, and this song is sung by the lead woman who is beaten terribley and thrown out by her lover of many years. and she sings that she'll always be there for him... it's pretty awfull in the musical, but that doens't mean she can't take it and make it her own. i think she does a great job with it. i don't know if it classifies as 'british invasion'... but she is SO good, i don't care.
