I don't think they're very similar at all. Ron Paul wanted to bring all the troops home from around the globe while Huckabee didn't, he wanted to get rid of a ton of government programs that Huckabee was in favor of, etc. I think just about the only things they had in common was that they are both Christians and want to end the IRS.

Both Huckabee and Paul hate big gov, and are in favor of the private sector gaining more influence. That is standard issue conservativism.
The only issue they are disagreeing upon is foreign policy.
