I remember being very little, in my bed going to sleep, my mom and her friends out in the living room listening to music, playing cards, (gettin high, I'm sure) and this song would come on, GOD it really used to scare the shit outta me, I used to call it the broken glass song (when I was about 5) I never told her til now how much it scared me....lol, But of course, now, the whole album is one of my favorites, shit, anything with Gabriel is GREAT!
Genesis as a band fucking about and its the only song they ever made except Hogweed that you can Headbang to... Hacket is amazing towards the end of this. The official release of this recording is to clean sounding I think...
I just cant get enough of the music from this band. Other bands I listen to for a good song and it might have some good lyrics that say something about my life, but Genesis is all about the music for me. Nothing Peter Gabriel sings makes any sense to me at all but I don't care cuz his voice is like another instrument. And his wild lyrics kind of make the songs more fun to listen to, trying to figure out what they mean. I have yet to find another band that makes incredible MUSIC like Genesis does
I'm always amazed at how Genesis was the band who did this track. Whenever I hear The Waiting Room, I think more of Pink Floyd because of its space avant-garde sound. Just goes to show you how talented the members of Genesis were. Listen to the bird chirps at 1:26.
This is probably my favorite performance of this tune. Phil is simply tremendous behind the kit, showing hints of why he formed Brand X. I've also always loved Rutherford's fuzz bass during the latter half. The energy from this LA show ranks among the highest of all Lamb recordings I've heard.
It sounds really cool when the tempo changes towards the end. This song would not be the same without Phil drumming, nor would any of the early Genesis songs without him drumming. That is probably part of the reason why their sound changed so much once he left the drumset. Not saying that's the only reason, but it is a part of it.
Most under-rated Genesis song ever - Phil Collins can ROCK that set!

The interplay between the guitar and the keyboard players drives me out of my mind. Why can't people do this kind of music anymore?!!
