I really don't like this number. It takes a fratricidal manipulative dictator who is both motivated and burdened by his feelings of inadequacy in comparison to his brother and need to be loved spiraling into madness when crushed by responsibilities he can't keep up with and then attempting to rape his spieces' equivalent of a teenage girl, and plays it almost entirely for laughs. Also it's a really lame song.

I actually am not a big fan of this song except towards the end. Scar in the beginning just sounds like a pansy with childhood issues. I mean to go from his first lines being dark and sinister in the movie to hearing this song is rather...disheartening. I think it's still, musically, a good song. I just think they paint Scar as a blubbering sissy rather than a conniving fiend.

OMG, this is so awesome! I've seen the stage show twice and love it. This song is really great in particular and explains a lot, why Nala left, and really develops Scar's character even further--I wish now they'd put this in the DVD along with "The Morning Report". Great job on the video.

I've got a new theory on that part whichwasn't included in TLK film.I think that after Nala ran away and Scar was thinking for an idea of having a queen and cubs Zira appeared and told Scar she was carrying a baby,a small cub from him,which would mean-Nuka.Scar never loved Zira,but only because she was crrying his baby he decided to make her queen.

This idea came into me while I was looking of Zira and Scar's puppets. -x- And I think this idea is very near to the truth.What do you think?

Zira basically went insane when Scar died, which would pretty much mean she loved him.

she yelled "you killed your own brother!" at Kovu when Nuka died. Nuka was Zira's son, so Kovu would be Nuka's brother.

Anyone with brains can see that Nuka, Vitani, and Kovu were siblings and the offspring of Zira. But that doesn't prove that they're the offspring of Scar. And when did the movie say that Zira went insane when Scar died? All we know is that she was a faithful follower of him. That doesn't prove that she was Scar's mate. You need to work on your logic.

Just a bit of trivia, but didn't a deleted scene have her saying she would have been queen? My theory is that Zira and her lionesses joined the pride not long before Simba returned. Zira already had Nuka and Vitani and was pregnant with Kovu when Nala rejected Scar and I think that was when she became Scars mate.

I don't remember that deleted scene. But as for deleted scenes: they're interesting and all but they were taken out for a reason. So i tend to go with what the final product says. That's what's been, I guess you could say, "written in stone." I remember the deleted scene where it shows Zira committing suicide, but since it wasn't put in the final product, I don't count it part of the story.
