@wendysbrian1: yes it is possible but the cells have to be in solution so I'm not that used to cancer cells because I work on this machine with plant cells but blood cells for example can be sorted with it. So if you can bring a tissue sample in a solution that the cells are singlets it should be possible...
Can this machine be used to separate cancerous cells from non cancerous cells so that the cancerous ones may be studied? Is it possible to take a tissue sample from a cancer patient to accomplish this?

LOL what's up with the daft punk music? And nice video but the really faint, subtle music in the background was more distracting than you would think! >_<
Great job on this vid, explains it really well, and i love the shots of the instrument. I run a flow lab in Sydney, have a Cadillac, a Ferrari ( Aria ) and 5 Analysers - I will be definately promoting your vid in my training sessions
thanks i am right now taking stem cell at ucsc and it was hard to understand flow cytromety now its so clear now thank you

Wow this is a great medium for explaining the process. But how does the flow cytommeter sort the cells into the different types?

Do you know if you can separate cells expressing different levels of a GFP tag?

Great video. You managed to explain very complex term clearly and accurately. Like the music. The FACSVantage is the Cadillac of flow cytometry
