backtrack IS free, by now it's version 3 (or 4 beta)

you can get it from the remote-exploits website (see first vid).

It's an OS, so you boot it instead of windows.

i have backtrack 3 on a cd, and i want to save it to my hard drive and make a partition, but when i try to by entering cfdisk, it says it's readable only, and won't let me make one. I'm new to linux, and backtrack. i'm also on vista. so if anyone can help me, i would appreciate it.

also, how do i watch videos on backtrack? there is no default program...

... backtrak is made for living on a cd or on an usb drive so you dont really need to install it. Backtrack aswell is made for hacking, so if you just want to use linux as your standard OS then you should use something else, like ubuntu or open Suse or whatever you want. And if you use a laptop... deinstall vista and get a linux distribution

ok i cant get my senao nl-2511cd plus ext2 802.11b card to work with any backtracks does any one know if i got to patch the card or what iam using a hp zv6000 labtop i did put it in monitor mode then i start airodump then the aireplay and then it starting to start packets and only 1 arp how do i get it to get more arp so i can get 250,000 ivs please help i been working on this for two weeks

if you can get windows drivers for it then you can use netwrapper to use the windows drivers for backtrack.
