Fantastic. This movie played at a film festival in New Zealand about 2 years ago. The soundtrack was availble at the counter. I saw the movie and have the soundtrack. F A N T A S T I C. Is this available on dvd/bluray? 10 out of 10. This is how it all started. One of the must see music movies of all times. My favourite track is "Shanty Town (007). Thank you Mr Desmond Dekker. Thank you very much.
I just saw this doc on Netflix, and was a bit disappointed. The music is great, the cinematography is great, the people are great, Jamaica is great, but Rocksteady is discussed more as a footnote to reggae history than a distinct musical form. Also, the editing is lousy.
The stuff about Bob Marley, who played such a minor role in this scene, wasn't too annoying. The movie is mostly focused on telling the stories of the people behind the music, and his wife is one of those people.
I like the video player on "reggaelinx website"better, it allows you to zoom in and play in slow motion. Plus they allow you to play your own playlist. You guys should check it out.
@daughterofthesoil Rocksteady was about love and when there was no money, people performed for the love and they made lots of love too. You have to blame the producers for that clip.
who is singing the song"the rock steady" ? lyrics are going like" rock steady b girl, is just.....the rock steady b girl is just afficent, its has a beat to move your feet" "the orck steady bip girl has the power" ?? some one? and this other song like same era "baby come back to me? "yea yea any day now, oh yeah yea I can see you darling even when Im dreaming I need you, I need you yes I do"?
The narrator as far as I remember was Stranger Cole who we see at the beginning and throughout the documentry. Fantastic to hear the sounds I grew on bursting outa some massive load speakers. And to see all these great pioneers still alive looking and sounding good.
Wish I could get the Rocksteady documentary and the reunion concert to purchase. any ideas??

couple questions can any one answer? who is the narrator at the start of the video? what is the name of the group and song that was sung at the start {oh oh seven 0:01-0:08}? who is the drummer is that sly or robbie 0:26 & 0:49? who is the singer doing tek yuh time 1:03? who is the speaker at 1:45?
Narrator throughout the documentary is Stranger Cole one of the pioneer singer. we also saw him in the documentary at 17 years old. Drummer at 0.26 is Sly. At 1.03 is Hopeton Lewis so good to hear that again. he's on FB. At .145 is Stranger (nickname) Cole again. hope it helps. the whole 134 minutes documentary was shown on the UK last wk . watched it twice wish I recorded it

But in the movie they take that version and get U-Roy to toast over it

@ud777 Why not watch the movie? All questions will be answered.
First track is 007 (Shanty Town) by Desmond Dekker performed by Ken Boothe
Sly is the drummer in the film....Robbie is bass (but he's not in the movie)
Take It Easy is done by Hopeton Lewis
"I think that's what Rocksteady is all about.....Calm and easy" ahhhh Stranger Cole (he does the majority of narration in the movie.)
