This game was in development from 1994-1997. but it surprises me they can't remake a 14 year old game, it's all about the graphics today, that's why they can't remake it, they don't have the resources to remake such huge game, and I think the world map is what really holds them down on that. the rest of the game is pretty much "one angle" scenery, but with a remake they will most likely have moving cameras and such, but yeah I think you catch my drift.

I bought it from ps store today but I can't play it for some reason. Do you have to have right audio/video cables or a memory card? I have a ps3 slim and I'm using a hdmi cable to play my ps3 games. Mainly because remakes are to breath new life into something gone by. Final Fantasy VII is still fresh in our hearts and minds and will always be. Besides, remakes arent always a good idea. Some games deserve it, others don't. Besides, VII isn't the most deserving for a remake if you ask me.

@Timsierramist FF7 has, if I'm remembering correctly, been their biggest money maker for Square. It is very odd that they refuse to remake the game, even citing that it'd be impossible with graphics quality similar to FF13. The real issue I think is not that they CAN'T but more that they don't wish for a release of an FF7 remake to overshadow their other upcoming FF titles such as Versus 13 and 13-2. Most likely they ARE planning a remake, but they're keeping it on silent for now. Keep hope.
@perun1nj i don't believe they could do it they just don't have the technolgy to be able to do a world map in hd with out it looking shit, in the current engine, they're working on it as they've added to the engine and are trying to implement it into ffv13 but we don't kno how it's going to work out just yet, they might consider a ff7 remake if all goes well but i doubt it...
@Timsierramist They were working on it. Look up Final Fantasy VII PS3 Tech Demo, it was an exclusive HD remix for the PS3. Mind you the graphics do not look THAT good because this was posted over FIVE years ago. Guess Square got lazy, typical. I was hoping for a FF7, and Threads of Fate remake.

I'm 16 now and this is one of my favorite games ever, and is the first game I ever remember being seen played, I love my dad for that and it was oh so satisfying when I completed it after knowing my dad never did... I do hate my gaming generation all obsessed with one type of game, its sad that many kids dont know the wonder of a great story in great gameplay, most games these days dont really have a real story
I say a FFVII remake for the PS3 is in order, since this is the best 3-D Final Fantasy game to date. VII was the first to really give the games a grand level of customization as well as a story that had a film level of emotion put into it. While I am a fan of the old school N.E.S./Famicom and S.N.E.S. games, VII is the best by far in my opinion. though I always thought a VI remake would be incredible as well.

I play COD when u feel like killing ppl, halo I love the storyline, and FF I also love the story line, thts y I have an emulator for it on my iPod touch. Maybe most kids are too ignorant but not all

I am so glad that this game is on psn because I never got to play it and Even though I want a hard copy, I am mad that there are pigs on ebay selling a copy for $300 that is the same with the greatest hits version of the game, but i am glad that sony put this in their psone classics back catalouge so i dont have to give those pigs $300 for something that is worth $10-$20

im gonna say that im 18 now, and i played this when i was around 12 year old.
i was llucky , i didnt buy the game myself when it came out , but my godfather lended it to me around 3 years after it was released, and it was awesome. this one time i went to my grandmas house and brought the game with me to play it, but when it was time to leave i forgot to take the game with me so i cried
ff7.. THE greatest game of alltime.along with OOT of course ! no doubt there will be halo gayboys and COD geeks that disagree and will have a bitch but i know i will get people agreeing when i say you find me a game thats original, that has in depth characters with a story line where you want to keep playing.where you play it 20 times and never get bored and still find things you missed on it.. i got this when it first came out and its never got boring!

Growing up I only had the Nintendo...so I'm 17 now and I just played and beat the original FFVII last year, I really wish I did that when I was little...then I guess playing Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus, and seeing Advent Children Complete would have been much more nostalgic. But...better late then never I guess. This is now my favorite game and I'd die for a remake, I'd get a PS3 just for it.

I enjoyed FF7 and i would love to play a remade updated version with updated music/graphics. In my opinion however i think it is overrated. In my opinion FF9 was one of the best in gameplay. FF10 was decent. I know there isn't a lot who could play the online XI but that was grand as a MMO but back to single players and on topic. I would love to see a remade version and don't say it wont be coming. If demand for money come in and with FF remaking their games so far i think we still have some hope

@hoho12789 reasons why anything has a chance to become overrated is because it has become over liked, over popular. i recall a time when i could say that call of duty was a great game with a great multiplayer without being hated on, (about 4 years ago, cod4) but we know that era is long gone now. if you do not like the game please take your frustrations somewhere else, or go on a different final fantasy and say how much you love that game because everyone of these games deserves to be remembered
@hoho12789 also, its 3d percepective was a first for ff games, it really took the step up. the turn base game style has always been there for all the final fantasy games so if it you do not like it, you shouldnt be commenting on a ff trailer anyway. cutscenes were nonexistant or lacking in previous ff games, and were put in first for ff7. ff7 built up its characters and gave a solid story, even if it may not have been the best. u guys are entitled to opinions but please, do not bash,

Don't defend the graphics, the sprites were horrendously done, and many of the prerendered backgrounds were poorly mapped out. I have never played ff7... I played ff 8,12,10 and 13. The graphics for ff7 dont look like they have aged too well and Im very used to the voice acting rather than reading the dialogue.... Is it worth me buying ff7 on the psn? or should I hold out for the remake?
@cally2011 Well, it depends. If you don't like the graphics or the gameplay. I loved it even with the graphics (they're actually not so bad imo). I recommend you to play the original because a remake is not going to come out until ... like years (more than five for sure). What I payed attention was the envolving story more than the graphics: with imagination you can do everything ;)

@mina319 Dude, this comment clearly shows your lack of understanding of the Final Fantasy series. It is the benchmark by which all other RPGs are graded. It is the originator, the alpha, the omega. Final Fantasy is the only reason you have your RPGs today. Final Fantasy is the precursor to all other RPGs like Jazz is to Rock and Roll. VII was the defining episode in the series, the highest selling of any other FF. Therefore it is not overrated. I however think FFVI is the best in the series.

@perun1nj i don't believe they could do it they just don't have the technolgy to be able to do a world map in hd with out it looking shit, in the current engine, they're working on it as they've added to the engine and are trying to implement it into ffv13 but we don't kno how it's going to work out just yet, they might consider a ff7 remake if all goes well but i doubt it...

@Timsierramist They were working on it. Look up Final Fantasy VII PS3 Tech Demo, it was an exclusive HD remix for the PS3. Mind you the graphics do not look THAT good because this was posted over FIVE years ago. Guess Square got lazy, typical. I was hoping for a FF7, and Threads of Fate remake.

I'm 16 now and this is one of my favorite games ever, and is the first game I ever remember being seen played, I love my dad for that and it was oh so satisfying when I completed it after knowing my dad never did... I do hate my gaming generation all obsessed with one type of game, its sad that many kids dont know the wonder of a great story in great gameplay, most games these days dont really have a real story

I say a FFVII remake for the PS3 is in order, since this is the best 3-D Final Fantasy game to date. VII was the first to really give the games a grand level of customization as well as a story that had a film level of emotion put into it. While I am a fan of the old school N.E.S./Famicom and S.N.E.S. games, VII is the best by far in my opinion. though I always thought a VI remake would be incredible as well.

i was llucky , i didnt buy the game myself when it came out , but my godfather lended it to me around 3 years after it was released, and it was awesome. this one time i went to my grandmas house and brought the game with me to play it, but when it was time to leave i forgot to take the game with me so i cried

I still love to play the game, my copy was pawned by my sister in law.

Growing up I only had the Nintendo...so I'm 17 now and I just played and beat the original FFVII last year, I really wish I did that when I was little...then I guess playing Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus, and seeing Advent Children Complete would have been much more nostalgic. But...better late then never I guess. This is now my favorite game and I'd die for a remake, I'd get a PS3 just for it.

I enjoyed FF7 and i would love to play a remade updated version with updated music/graphics. In my opinion however i think it is overrated. In my opinion FF9 was one of the best in gameplay. FF10 was decent. I know there isn't a lot who could play the online XI but that was grand as a MMO but back to single players and on topic. I would love to see a remade version and don't say it wont be coming. If demand for money come in and with FF remaking their games so far i think we still have some hope

@hoho12789 reasons why anything has a chance to become overrated is because it has become over liked, over popular. i recall a time when i could say that call of duty was a great game with a great multiplayer without being hated on, (about 4 years ago, cod4) but we know that era is long gone now. if you do not like the game please take your frustrations somewhere else, or go on a different final fantasy and say how much you love that game because everyone of these games deserves to be remembered

@hoho12789 also, its 3d percepective was a first for ff games, it really took the step up. the turn base game style has always been there for all the final fantasy games so if it you do not like it, you shouldnt be commenting on a ff trailer anyway. cutscenes were nonexistant or lacking in previous ff games, and were put in first for ff7. ff7 built up its characters and gave a solid story, even if it may not have been the best. u guys are entitled to opinions but please, do not bash,

FF 7 fanboys have such a narrow prspective. the turn base fights are boring and heve no action in them. ff 7 looks like crap(even when it orginally realesed) cut scences are not the games graphics nor are the pre render background you cant even interact with that background cause its 2d. ff7s story and characters were compared to other games crap. so ff7 fanboys admit it, get, over it, that slap yourself 1 time for every ridiculous claim youve made about ff7 being 1 of the best games ever

@hoho12789 I agree. VII is one of the weakest games in the series, and the most overrated one. Don't defend the graphics, the sprites were horrendously done, and many of the prerendered backgrounds were poorly mapped out. I've been playing video games since the Atari so don't cry and accuse me of being a new game fag. I still enjoy games older than many of you fanboys posting on this video.

I have never played ff7... I played ff 8,12,10 and 13. The graphics for ff7 dont look like they have aged too well and Im very used to the voice acting rather than reading the dialogue.... Is it worth me buying ff7 on the psn? or should I hold out for the remake?

@cally2011 Well, it depends. If you don't like the graphics or the gameplay. I loved it even with the graphics (they're actually not so bad imo). I recommend you to play the original because a remake is not going to come out until ... like years (more than five for sure). What I payed attention was the envolving story more than the graphics: with imagination you can do everything ;)

@mina319 Dude, this comment clearly shows your lack of understanding of the Final Fantasy series. It is the benchmark by which all other RPGs are graded. It is the originator, the alpha, the omega. Final Fantasy is the only reason you have your RPGs today. Final Fantasy is the precursor to all other RPGs like Jazz is to Rock and Roll. VII was the defining episode in the series, the highest selling of any other FF. Therefore it is not overrated. I however think FFVI is the best in the series.
