Metal on Metal!! awesome song!! wish they still had their old guitarrist still, lips is amazing but he cant really play all the notes, achords, etc in their songs. Most of them were written for two guitars. Lets see if they ever get a new one!
It's always a great pleasure to watch any band performing their songs with passion and pleasure - their energy goes to the audience and back to guys on the stage... Anvil is a pure dedication to metal music! I always have same feeling about shows of Accept or Udo: each note and each beat is real and played like there are nerves and not usual strings on their guitars. Long live REAL music.
lol lips was wearing that same shirt when he was playing at house of blues on febuary it was the best night of my life lol i got my jean jacket signed by lips glenn and rob :)
ahh...dis old school heavy metal has a taste of its own..metallica and megadeth moved on from dis but i'm glad thers at least anvil who duz dis music..!
Anybody who has nothing better to do with their pathetic life than spend hours each day on Youtube trashing anvil videos should have their assholes cauterized shut with a red hot poker and then be force fed exlax until they explode into a horrible shitty death.
Sometimes I think the internet is the worst thing to happen to humanity. People have less civility and general respect for eachother than any point in human history. No accountability in sitting safely behind a computer and spewing endless negativity.
@CaptainFantastik1 Very well said. The anonymity the internet provides definitely can elicit the lowest denominator of trolling. Fortunately, some people take the time to form their thoughts first. Unfortunately, others simply react on their bias
i woulf have to agree with jean, keep your mouth shut, and keep your ignorant words to yourself. Anvil is one of the most influential metal bands out there, and this isnt just coming from fans, this is coming from some of the biggest bands and musicians of all time...slash, lars ulrich are just a few. thanks.
i agre with jeanStarkiller..... you dont now metall so eata bag of raw shit and die a painnfull slow death, along with the bicth who gave you birth...... go listen to the faggot bands that you offer blow jobs too , you dumb fuck! and dude two names below me, just die and rott, slowly and witha mainstream dick up your ass
i don't agree that it is just a case of 'adjusting with the times.' they could have better songs, for sure, but other bands, megadeth as one example, continue to sound very similar to how they did back in the '80s, but of course, their music was superior to this. anvil weren't that good. i was surprised by the other bands at the beginning of the film that hold them in such high regard, but then behind the scenes at rock shows, other bands wouldn't give them the time of day.
you may be on of the only person other than media shit heads that I've heard say anything negative about this band. If you don't like them, then get back on you're knees and finish up.
Oh, stop it. They're great guys who deserve what others have had. Sad? Yes. But your life and my own are often sad. You're just a bitter troll here--this is a great "everyman" kind of story that puts this group into the pantheon with the other bands.
Metal on Metal? I mean, yeah, it's silly stuff--but so is a lot of it. Great band that I support and love.
It's really not a matter of whether this group "sucks" or not. Their music is as banal as many metal groups' tends to be--again, that's not the point. Part of their oeuvre is now that documentary that humanizes them so painfully. "Keep on rockin." It's an amazingly stark line that endears us to this band. They really are an amazing experience.
fuck you guys under me u dnt know shit this band doesnt suck you guys suck balls.....they dont give up because there determined and they accomplished more than ur fatasses! ANVIL!!!!!!!!
and because they wouldn't fade they are now 10 times bigger than you or me will ever become. it's to bad they didn't give up or they wouldn't have to suffer the way they are now. amen
Saw them on Jimmy Kimmel(I think, I forgot what late night now) and at first I thought they where one of those new wave, pseudo-metal bands but alas they're not and they're actually pretty fucking awesome.
i was at the moncton show 2 the only way anvil or the answer which ever one it was was able 2 get noise out of us was by calling us mother fuckers lol
I saw their movie on a flight, and I think its amazing how long they stayed together and that they have never given up. They deserve as much credit as some of the big bands.
Anvil ... these guys personify the true meaning of "having heart".
For 36 years, they stayed loyal to their DREAM ... dealing with the humiliation of playing in empty bars, getting rejected by the music industry, and going thru all the heartache.
The kids in the music scene these days ... none of these punk MOTHER FUCKERS have the kind of heart and dedication needed to purue their dreams into their 50's ... thru all the hardship Lips & Robb went thru.
@phatjoe9595joe I suppose it's the way it goes. But still nothing will ever replace the fortitude it takes to endure what the guys in Anvil went through. Amongst all the flash-in-the-pan talent out there, the cream eventually rises to the top ... even if it takes them 36+ years to do so. :)
@phatjoe9595joe I'm poor as fuck, scraping together equipment as I go. My parents bought my guitar, and a couple of pedals, but I've got where I am today (not very far at all) with my band, on our own. There are a SHITLOAD of hard-working road bands. Anyone who's actually part of the scene knows that, along with the douchebags you're talking about, there are a ton of bands who have to rely on talent. Don't be so quick to label.
@fukbyoch Hey dont say that, Dont you know Justin Beiber has a movie out called "Never say Never" about how hard he had it when he started out in the buisness X-D..... (jk).
@fukbyoch I'm a 23 year old (24 in May) and I've been playing shows since I was 18. I've never seen any success, financially, or even in terms of being known in the scene. But even if I never do, I'll never stop playing, because it's what I love, and I couldn't live without it.
My point is that your comment is stupid. The heart of Anvil that you describe exists in every truly dedicated musician. You have no call putting down the kids who have a dream to play. Lips and Robb were young once, too.
I commend you for pursuing your music despite the adversity. The last thing I want to do is put a damper on someone's dream. I was emotional when I made that post, but I was so fucking stoked for Lips & Robb finally getting recognition.
The challenge for you ... 27 years from now, will you still be as dedicated to your dream?
