  • Which is better, this or creatoon?

  • @bb8497 I've not used Creatoon, so I can't really comment...

  • is this an 3d program also

  • @Sethanas12 No, Synfig is 2D only.

  • waaaaaa ! so awsomeee :)

  • kool

  • Impressive!

  • Astounding attention to detail!

I'm downloading this software right now! Can only hope I can pull off stuff half this good!

  • Very cool. Synfig seems like an amazing animation program.

  • I was thinking of download Synfig, but the only error is of the animation I've seen created with it (Its a very good program) but unfortunately its not what I'm looking for.

  • I've never heard of Synfig until now. I'm gonna go check into it, and by the way nice animation, no distorions or anything, really nice!!!

  • I need to know where to find the 'default blend method' and the default transparency in synfig PLZZ HELP!

  • The default blend method is located in the main tools dialog. When you first run it, you should see the work compocite towards the bottom. You can click this to select the blend method you want. Transparency is 'Alpha over'.

  • I have windows Vista, and I really want Synfig, but I can't find the Vista selection for the download.

    Can you help me?

  • The Windows download works for both XP and Vista. If you're having problems, post a message on the forum with details, or join us on IRC.

  • I dont get at all how to use this and i want to learn becuse its seem like a reallycool program can you have a viseo dimanstrading how to animate on it

  • There's videos linked from the Synfig Wiki website. I can't post a link here, apparently YouTube blocks comments with links.

  • That is cool

  • Thank you to the demo-author, the authors of the SynFig software and apxegeek and for sharing this great animation. The animated curves within the video signal stenography to the people who know this forgotten art. What about beeing a co-creator of StenoMotion, the 3d body sign-language, to be developed in the YouTube community and beyond. In the StenoWiki there are already some basic StenoGlyphs, waiting for animators.

  • I'm a little more interested in the art of animation and the mechanics of Synfig, but wish you good luck with you efforts and hope that Synfig can play a helpful role in your new body language.

  • By animating them you could help the learners of stenography to more easily memorize them.

But best of all, we are creating a new language, that is inspired by stenography but not restricted to it. This new body language is (not "only") valuable for the deafculture. It builds a bridge between hearing and not hearing impaired people.

  • Cont.:

5*,fav,subscripted, socially bookmarked/ annotated it with this text and put it on the SocialCommonWealth blog to give this artist and the software Synfig maximal exposure in the communities. .. Thank you. -- fridemar

  • were all of these effects done inside synfig? I use flash currently but usually have to go into photoshop to add more complex effects liek that.

Also, I was wondering if the drawing tools in synfig work liek they do in flash, for example, if I drew 2 intersecting lines, would you be able to edit all four sections independently, or would it still be treated as 2 strokes?

    Thanks

  • Yes, everything you see was drawn, animated and rendered from Synfig. It includes a spherical distortion layer that allows effects like rotating eyeballs and planets. I'm not familiar with flash, so I can't comment on the similarity. By default 2 lines would be on two separate layers, however you could draw them as two crossing lines on one layer. They would all be editable.

  • I don't understand how you can get the smooth thickness variations on the lines...I've been dabbling with this program for a day or so now.

  • If you select the line, you can edit the parameters for each control point. One of the parameters is line width. This allows you to have a line with 3 control points, with width 0 at either end but say, 10 pt in the middle. Of course it's much easier if you have a pressure sensitive tablet - then you can just draw it harder for thicker strokes.

  • Turn on the 'width' ducks with Alt-5 or from the workarea's caret menu.

For other useful keyboard shortcuts, see the wiki-synfig-com Keyboard_Shortcuts page.

  • That's bloody wicked!

I've gotta give this program a go!

  • awesome
