Hi, im 17 and I love your dreads so much...cant wait to mines get that long, and you are so beautiful. I will never cut my brother dreads after looking at your videos.
in total how many locks do you have? I am new to all the locks and cannot decide how many I want. I do not want big thick ones, but I don't want tiny ones. I like your size and number of locks so I am just curious. Plz ! Love your hair!!!
Sister locks are made with a tool kind of like a crochette needle. No gel or anything are used to hold them. Dread locks are made by twisting and using product sto hold the twists. I just celebrated my 6 year "sisterlockaversary" . I love it!
Just curious, am very interested in getting the sisterlocks and I have no idea where to go, so they can do a good job. please let me know a good salon
hello! i'm a long time subscriber and also a video blogger here on YT, and i've been trying to figure out how you created this style but to no avail! any chance you're going to explain how to do this technique in the future? i'm very interested in this beautiful style!
I know this is 2 years old almost, but I was wondering: If you had to start the locs again, would you have gotten thicker locs? It seems to look veru nice on you in the medium thickness. Just wondering :o)
I have started my own locs with the two stand twist. Can you recommend products to use until my hair actually locs. I hear Carols Daughter products are good.
As far as I know the main difference is the locs thickness. A sisterloc will probably be closer to the size of a microbraid rather than a straw or something.
Beautiful :). Thanks for sharing this with everyone, I intend to turn my natural hair into dreadlocks, and it's naturally quite curly, but how can you make the dreadlocks in such a way that they remain permenantly curly without a perm?
If you're not too busy please mail me about this because I'd really like to know. Thankyou :D.
Hi Brocoli7657AZ547. Probably during the beginning of your locking process you will experience more "natural curling" or texture than most, but after your locks start to settle, they will begin to look and feel like traditional locks and you will have to apply styling techniques that will produce curls. Thanks for posting and have a great hair day
I have been watching your videos for a few weeks and I love them, I love your hair. I have been natural on and off for years and now I am seriously considering sister locks. I am scared to have it done by someone who does not know what they are doing and I'm wondering where you are located and if you are taking new clients. I just want it to be started off right and then I think I can find a lock doctor to maintain the.
Hi fitqueen2009. Contact me via YouTube email and I'll email or call you. At least I can share with you how to interview a prospective Sisterlock consultant. I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. Looking forward to sharing with you.
Hello! I want to dye my sisterlocks when I get them put in next week. Should I dye it before I get them put in or should I dye my hair after I get the sisterlocks. Thanks.
Hi SAOMONY. I always recommend coloring hair BEFORE any locking process and then retouch the new growth before your retightenings. This way you won't be overlapping the color and you'll have a more consistent color. If coloring your hair after it is locked you have to squeeze the color into your locks and most "do it yourselfers" are not successful with rinsing all the product out of the core of the locks, causing deterioration of the interior of the lock & severe drying and breakage over time
Hi Lockedmama. I get this question alot. I'm curious to see how long it will grow. I am experiencing a little natural thinning in the crown area and will need to concentrate on more updos, but as long as it stays healthy, I'll continue to let it grow. I'm in uncharted waters. If or whenever I do decide to cut it, you better believe I'll make it a "VIDEO" event and share it with all of you. Thanks for posting and have a great hair day.
Beautiful locs my sister! Question: I want sister locs but my hair is very thin with damaged (not coming back at all!) sides from years of tight braids. I dont know if I have enough hair for 400 locs. Any advice? Also you mentioned you were not taking new heads, do you have any recommendations for the Delaware, NJ, NY area? So many are claiming to be a sisterloc tech but .......
Hi ptact. You can still get the sisterlocks. As they grow out they will do a good job at camouflaging your thinner areas, but make sure you find a good locktician and can see her work first. Contact me via the youtube email and I'll give you my recommendations.
hey I noticed that you have some little embellishments in your hair, at first I thought it was some kind of product residue, but I now notice the beads...my question is..do you intertwine them in or are they removable?
Hi ummsaleem. All of the jewelry is either pierced through the locks or slid on. They stay attached to my locks through grooming sessions, shampooing and styling. And because I use high quality wires, crystals and beads when making them, I've been able to wear them in my locks for years. You can view them and get them at
VideoLocktician. com. Thanks for watching and have a great hair day.
Hi scampbell04. The only differences between the two are the techniques by which they are intially started and maintained and the size. Both techniques produce an environment in your hair that will allow it to intertwine and lock overtime.
I always want to try things with my locks but I never know what to do. But your tips are great and I will most definitely try them. Please continue making these videos.
Can you please post a lock timeline. Of course you maynot have pictures but could you talk about what to expect for individuals that just got their lock put in and what the retightening process entails. I jsut got my locks maybe a month ago and I'm anxious to know when will they finally lock and how to wash new locks and scalp maintainence. I know these are alot of questions but I will love you forever.
I am thinking about getting locks. My natural hair is about 1 inch past my shoulders; it breaks very easily is why. How long does it take to get the type of length that you have?
Your locks are beautiful! Would this style technique work on soft fine hair which is sisterlocked. I would also like to know where I can get the DVD of styles for sisterlocks.
Hi butterfly3360. Sorry for you. No styling yet girlfriend. Enjoy the newness of your Sisterlocks. They style themselves as they grow out. Just tousle them and go. If you begin to style too soon, your locks will have a "stretched" appearance and you may be more susceptible to unraveling.
You Have Beautiful Locs! Thanks for ALL of your videos. Your videos have helped me to decide on Sisterlocks. I had my first consultation but she told me that shaving the Locks is part of the maintenance process. Is this necessary?
Hi myizropen. Happy to hear that you've decided on Sisterlocks. Congratulations! I don't know, however, what "shaving" the locks is all about. Can you clarify?
The Locktician was using her daughters locs as an example of her work. Her daughters hair had strands of hair sticking out along the length of the loc.The Locktican said that those strands of hair will be shaved off;that this would give the loc a well-groomed look.
Hi myizropen. That's what I figured she was referring to, but just wanted to make sure. The answer to your guestion of "is this necessary?" is no. It's a matter of preference. I've had my locks for over 8 years now and if you look at some of the videos where you can see up close, you'll notice strands of hair all up and down the entire lock. I've never had this shaving done and have never done it on any of my clients. If you decide to get it done, do it only occasionally.
i so want dreadlocks now. i'm tired of getting my hair braided with the synthetic hair. it's like...ok, i don't have a perm anymore, and my natural hair is long enough to do something else, but idk what the heck to do!! but um...natural hair maintenance takes too long, heh...so..i think i'm gonna do dreads. they seem awesome...yeah i know that takes maintenence too, but hopefully i can find a good hair stylist to help me out.
It really doesn't take too long. I just celebrated my first loc anniversary yesterday, when I got to get maintanence, it takes about 2 hours to get them done
oh 2 hours isn't bad. well i set an appointment for this week to get my own hair done in twists...if that looks good, i'll do that for a while and then go to dreads...can't do dreads now as it will be too big of a shock to my family (lol)
when will they get long enough to actually lay down without me having to retwist them and use product? why do i still have to use product in my hair? i notice that when folks have long dreads they dont seem to use product, just looks like their natural hair and its awesome looking like a head full of natural 'braids'; but mine arent there yet. after i wash them should i just leave them sticking up for weeks and not retwist them or what? and when are they going to start looking like dreadlocks?
when i shampoo my hair the roots are very loose and are not locked yet, is my hair actually growing into a lock with the rest of the locked hair or is the other hair the only hair that will stay locked because it's interlocked? also when i wash them they look really puffy and fuzzy and i have to retwist them, is this normal, are they growing? i wash about once a week and retwist on the following week, why do they look so crazy and they stick straight up in the air!
i have a few questions about locks in general. i started my locks using the comb twist method but i swim alot and thus had to change to the interlock method. so my hair is basically locked right? so now what should i expect from my hair? i feel like i cheated using the interlock method because i don't know how long it would have taken to truly lock with the comb twist method. sometimes the tips of my locks turn into these little matted balls and fall out, why? more questions...

Sisterlocks are maintained with a tool and no wax or gels.
Dreadlocsare maintained by twisting with wax or gel.
Sisterlocks are healthier for your hair because it's less stress on the hairline and no build-up

I have my mind set on sisterlocks, however I want to find the best -Consultant- I can find, to get the look I would like.
My questions are:
Where are you located? I think I heard DE, on another video, is that correct?
I would like to have my hair done by you if possible(not soon, but in the future). However, I live in MD.
Do you recommend I have a consultant for my sisterlocks, that is located so far away from -me-?

Thank you for posting these videos! How do you make the knots on the top of you hair stay? My locks are getting to the length now where they will not hold a curl with rods. This would be perfect!
