  • Why do Cirruses (and other composite aircraft) have a airframe life limit when Diamonds do not? Will this aircraft have an airframe life limit? That's the only thing unappealing about Cirruses to me.

  • Diamonds were certified outside the U.S.. Current regulations for new FAA certified aircraft include a requirement for a demonstrated life limit. Cirrus' 12,000-hour life limit is the highest extended under FAR Part 23 and can be extended with additional testing and fleet history. Some older aircraft (Cessna, Piper, etc.) certified under past regulations are finding life limits effectively being set via the AD system. Diamonds may later have a life limit created based on fleet history.
