I was a friend of Gaylord and it was always fun to hang out at his home in San Pedro that overlooked the Pacific ocean. I met him at a friend's Sunday afternoon party and Gaylord invited me visit him. When I visited I brought some Nino Rota sheet music and he played it for me on his home organ. He was a real musician and could sight read music which I never could as I played by ear.

This is one of my MUST RIDE rides that I go on every time I go to DisneyWorld and DisneyLand. Heheh, I always feel creeped out and a bit scared every time I ride on it, the Haunted Mansion never gets old. This music has certainly made me a bit creeped out(in a good way).

they should have real actors in some of the ballroom roles, and when they needed to take a break switch in between the materializ-ings of the ghosts in the lights reflection. itd make the scene look so much more real. like theres actual ghosts dancing before your eyes!

I mentioned Gaylord Carter's name to Buddy Baker when we were riding Haunted Mansion at Walt Disney World and he became upset, insisting it was not Gaylord Carter playing. So I asked why Disney had sent a check for $150 to Gaylord as payment for using the recording at Tokyo Disneyland, and Buddy said it must have been a mistake.

I think someone may have challenged his authority when producing the original Haunted Mansion music. (Buddy was gentle and kind, but could be volatile when striving for perfection.) I recorded Gaylord dozens of times over a period of 31 years (1961-1992) and will insist that the un-embellished ballroom music is unmistakably Gaylord Carter's style.

Yep, the tag spec was not intended for anything other than pop songs. The performer is given biggest notice at the expense of the composer or arranger. If you write your own songs, OK, but otherwise you might see Disneyland or something equally weird.

The organ in the ballroom scene at Disneyland's Haunted Mansion is the actual organ prop used in the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea movie, so it was designed from or inspired from the movie prop. Instead, it IS the actual movie prop itself.

They actually sell (or sold, I don't know if they still do) the soundtrack for this ride at Disneyland in the store next to the Magic Shiop and in one of the stores outside of Pirates of the Caribean.

The CD includes orgional radio commercials, a whole recording of the ride, and rehearsals for the voices of your Ghost Host, Mme. Leota, and creapy sound effects used in the ride.
