Ive got it on gamecube. I think the game is absolutelty brilliant. The story and levels are huge, and the fact its coop is awesome. The one liners that sam says, make you laugh too.
I haven't played this game for 6 years, but I'm still pro. at the beginning of the video there is 4 statues, there is a treasure inside 2 of them. at 0:42 you break a statue, behind it is a button that opens a door to a room where you can find uzis (or what you like to call them)
@MugatuSazze I can't think of any for ps2, that is unless Will Rock was ported to ps2. other games like this for pc include the classics, doom and quake, but if you want a game more similar to sam, check out Painkiller, which combines the franticness and hoardes of serious sam with a similar movement system to the original quake. it also comes with a beautiful engine. another one to look out for is the Excessive Unreal: Batshit Insane mod for Unreal Tournament 99. look for it on youtube
@DukeofOmnitrix Depends on what version is easier for you to find. Someone said the GC version runs better, but do you really want to play a FPS with the GC controller? If you don't mind the controller, then it's not a big deal. Me, personally, I'd just go with the easiest one to get. The PS2 version has online play, but rarely if ever do people play it.
@MugatuSazze Are you talking the single player mode, or the multiplayer mode? There's noting quite like it that fits very well. For multiplayer mayhem, there's Quake III, and Unreal Torunament. The Timesplitters series about as close a fit for the arcadey single player mode, but that's about all I can think of off the top of my head.
Im only 10 years old and if got serious Sam the first and second encounter and Im also getting the new ones and i have the hd ones to and also have serious Sam 2.
i like playing Turok and call of duty black ops and would at war
@teh2Dgamer Hey man .. shall i get this game for my ps2 .. or just having the 1st and 2nd encounter if enough ?/ i mean does this one actually add anything new ??
i'm pretty sure the gamecube one has online, it's just more complicated, you need a progressive scan, gamebube broadband cords, and a broadband adapter (these items are now VERY hard to find) R.E.kivoTHEvampire, this game can be played on pc with an emulator... but i'm not sure where to find this rom, or even a good running gamecube/ps2 emulator
Even if Climax developed this, I love how they've managed to recapture the original SS's magic. Men, I wonder why nobody still made a total conversion with the levels of this game...
Although the Playstation 2 version is easily better because of the online play, I prefer Serious Sam Next Encounter on Gamecube literally because it runs at the same frame rate as a decent spec PC version of Serious Sam. Great game anyway, definitely under-rated.
@LewisLongshanks Yeah, but the Gamecube's C-stick is piss for aiming. That's why I'm so glad I have an adapter that allows me to use my PS2 controller on the Gamecube.
Eh, true enough. But I've kind of gotten used to it. Playing Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance with the controller is somewhat of a nightmare even so haha,
@LewisLongshanks I assume you'd get used to it. I have Geist on the GC, but I can't remember how well the aiming works on that. Other than that, I don't think I have another first or third person shooter on the GC. all the multiplats I got on either the PS2, or the Xbox.
Besides Turok Evolution and Timesplitters Future Perfect, I can't think of many other first person shooters I own on Gamecube otherwise off the top of my head.
Does the ps2 version have a 2-player co-op feature? (split-screen, not LAN?) My buddy and I are looking at getting this game for his ps2 when we finish the Conflict series. (speaking of ps2 underrated gems, the Conflict games make for a good game night when played co-op with a friend.)
@IRONMAN255550 The Xbox version of Serious Sam was just a port of Serious Sam Gold (The First and Second Encounter) from the PC, Xbox's Serious Sam 2 was also a PC port. "The Next Encounter" is a console-original game and was exclusive to the Gamecube and PS2. They're all great games though.
@BillyCauseyjr Ahh that's right. It also had a few exclusive cut scenes. I dunno, I've got the disc just for collection purposes but when I want to play SS Xbox style I usually just play the Xbox mod for SS Gold lol.
@teh2Dgamer doesnt this have vehicles? thats cool. dont get me wrong, im not bashing the game, but it is disappointing (the amount of enemies on screen, etc)
Review? I honestly don't consider my video descriptions to be reviews. Just short descriptions, and in the underrated gems, I explain what some people won't like about certain aspects of the game, but I don't consider it a full review.
I've just played a lot of shooters lately. I go through phases where I play certain types of games more than others.
its a good serious sam game. but if youve played them all like me, youd know this isnt the definitive SS game in the series. id have to put bets on serious sam for the original xbox being the best in the series, as it had both first and second encounter in it. next encounter didnt have quite the co-op umph to it as SS2 and ORIG SS had
i used to love serious sam! serious sam and prince of persia were my 2 favourate games ever! if only they made a new xbox 360 version, that would be awsome.
Finially someone that straffes!!! i get so pissed off when i see other FPS gameplay vids, and the player doesnt straffe to kill... straffing is the most effective way to evade and kill
I know, but you could possibly request it. I'm not much of the playthrough type. I'm more the type to show gameplay, but with intention of getting people interested in the games enough to buy them.
Hey, teh2Dgamer, would you upload the videos of you crossing the whole game, like gamethrough? I'd love to see what more it has in Feudal China and Legendary Atlantis.
IMHO, I think The Next Encounter has the best gameplay, I argue, since: It has very useful thing for points system, you earn points to achieve medals, from bronze to gold; best played on Serious tom catch ALL the golds. 2. the secret levels, 3. weapons have alt fire (only the energy gun, other weapons have different COOl types of ammo! Like ricochet bullets for dual uzis, sonic and heat seeking rockets for rocket launcher...) and much more! Just an opinion of mine, don't flame me...
OMG you missed a secret, when you shoot that statue in the beginning, stand on where the statue was and press A, and a door will open and you'll get double uzi's but dum dum's will pop up
i bought serious sam next enounter today teh 2d gamer you are the man this game is incredible its not as good as the first one but its better then alot of 360 games and for 4.99 it was a steal
I was a fanatic in that game! Hmmm, I think there must not be very much info out there on how this game's storyline relates to the other Serious Sam games. Anyway, I'm a fan of the Xbox version of Serious Sam and the PC version of Serious Sam 2, so I might pick this one up if I can find it for around $10 or less.
As opposed to what? The PC? Sure, a dual analog control scheme is no match for a keyboard and mouse combo, but it still works pretty well for what it is.
