Everybody thought in the 80s that Elton John was singing about a girl named Nikita, and some people named their daughters Nikita... they didn't realise that Elton was gay and that Nikita's a boy's name in Russia.

@Cellsolid you are right, but in the original video, they showed Elton John singing Nikita to a woman, a Soviet policewoman, so many people would think it was about a woman. Probably the record studio did so since more than a few people back then would not purchase a "gay" song.

This song is just so amazing!! Always loved this one!! Elton John sure put out some great songs!! Takes me back to better days. This song takes me back to days of true happiness and innocence.
