@musclemonsters at what time of the day do you usually eat this and can i use other types of protein powder such as mass gainer? And how long does it take to see the effect?
@JVM113 Plain Oatmeal has 0-1 gram of sugar...a snickers has close to 30 grams. I am not sure where you get that logic but you are completely incorrect.
Also I've read from numerous places, that rolled oats (i guess that's the oats you use) have a GI which is actually higher than raspberries for example (from pretty reliable sources), with bananas just edging a bit higher. I don't mean to call you out, you've done some good videos, but isn't a high GI the main point you're making with including simple sugars in your shake? I read water melon has a high GI but this isn't as practical as other fruits.
@richymorganrp Raw oats (like the ones I used in this video) are low in the GI actually. Not sure who would say raw oats are higher in the GI than fruits but that is completely incorrect. Typically I will use bananas over raspberries but it's what I had available at the time of filming. Havent tried the watermelon but it should work just as well.
@musclemonsters raw oats, like oat groats? sorry they just looked like rolled oats. Many fruits have a lower GI than rolled oats. What's the main thing you look for on the label when buying oats then? can't seem to find anything that says "raw oats" or groat oats particularly.
You may consider adding organic raw eggs, 2 or 3 to the mix - these are a slower release protein. Then the Whey can hit your system fast, while the eggs release over the next few hours.
Would have been a good idea to mention that its bodyweight in pounds. I calculated with my bodyweight in kg until I read a few comments. Otherwise, great video.
Hey, I tried this and its GREAT, it really helped me to feel energized after the workout. I only have one question: do I have to drink it during my resting days?
@wastingtime I'm a big fan of bw exercises, but if you only do them, your gains will plateau after a while and you will need to add more resistance or use weights in order to keep the improvement rate up
hey man...so when i multiply my Body Weight by .3 go get how many cabs i need ,, are those the carbs i need throughout the day or just after my workout ?? ?? please answer
@musclemonsters hey man is it possible to get really strong doing only pushups and pullups/ chinups and other body weight excercises? And would I follow the same rules for deciding how much protein/ carbs to get?
That extra half scoop is probably useless. Your body can only absorb 20-25 grams of protein per meal. all the extra protein will just goes to waste and puts strain on your kidney. Your just wasting your money.
Where did you get, learn this formula for how much carbs and protein post workout? And can you explain why we need this amount post workout versus throughout the day? thanks, appreciate the help!!
I would just put milk, banana, oats and whey protein in there. Milk is better than water since it also has 8-9 g of protein and 12 g of carb. Your muscle and bones would also need calcium so milk would be great.
Thanks for the vid man!!! It turns out that I've only been taking half the amount of protein I need for my body weight. I also had no idea that I needed complex carbs right after a workout.
@spishade It's all good, bro. You're not alone. I also used to be "that guy" who would just take a scoop of protein after working out, and call that good. I think a lot of people make this mistake, and this video that Alain posted is really great, because I don't think enough people know the importance of simple and complex carbs after working out.
Hey man, it's Taylor, on my brothers account. Good video, man. :-) I have actually stopped drinking protein shakes after I workout, and just go with whole foods, but I like this because it's an extremely simple post workout formula.
Many people are probably wondering, "Is this a meal replacement?" Or do you eat something else with the drink?
@xtratoothpaste This particular "meal" is simply something quick and easy for after your workout to keep in from falling into a catabolic state. This shouldnt replace any of your meals for the day.

I weigh 155 pounds. Therefore i need 46.5g of carbs. What percentage of that should be oats and the rest fruit?

Don't forget some fat! Add a tablespoon of flax seed oil too. I like using a frozen banana as the simple carb. Makes it smooth and nice.
