the film isn't really about the dolphins. i mean norway, denmark n others ve been hunting dolphins. if it's about dolphins..that would be in the doc about dolphins. they r smart n worth fighting 4 freedom. but more than others animals? is the film about animals? there r monkeys sitting in cages at the zoos. do you know how close they are genetically to human beings?

how about the bears, wolves, deers n other wild lives we hunt. poor bambi?

It's about animal rights isnt it? smart or dumb, they should all have equal rights. how many animals (from rats to monkeys) do we kill for profits and research? Don't forget the massive #s of dogs and cats we kill everyday because we can't take care of them.how about the animals we hunt for kill joy? if this is how we treat our animals, who r we to tell others what to do? Fact of the matter is, No animal should be tortured, We amaricans come down hard on people who do abuse animals, But killing for food in a way where they are not tortured or brutaly murdered is different They were killing innocent creatures for no reason! Something so beautiful and pure, and has an unknown meaning until you see a pod of dolphins up close We need to protect life as it is. NOT DESTROY IT!!! Eating dolphin? well you might as well drink a cup of murcery!

Even in Mexico fins (Phocoena sinus) are killed by bycatch or fish poaching.

Why they have to come over to Japan by crossing Pacific ocean and take the film?

If "Director LOUIE PSIHOYOS is the specialist of fins, he must know it.

Actually bycatch of fins shall be more serious issue. Fins are choked to death in the net all over the world. Dozens of thousand fins are are dieing by this reason.

Why he does not raise up this issue, if he is serious on protection of fins?

For supplemental information. We Japanese were forced to open our country by US for 150 years ago, to supply their whaling ship, by pointed their guns to our capital city. They said "Open your port for US, otherwise we will fire on your capital".

Yes!! we did whaling for more than 2000 years when we came to this place. But it was only coast whaling.

After WW2, we started ocean whaling under advice of US, to sustain our people.

And we are getting strong criticism from US. Why????

I ask that you urge the Japanese government to revoke permits that allow Japan's Fisheries Agency to continue this heinous, dangerous and illegal practice.

I also urge American leadership to ensure that the International Whaling Commission includes the proper management of dolphins and porpoises and a comprehensive plan to stop the slaughter of dolphins in Japan.

It's quite unfortunate (and silly, if 'The Cove' filmmakers are really invested in Japanese seeing their documentary) that the film's official website is exclusively in English. They really ought to consider releasing Japanese versions of the website & trailer.

May I please see the proof of your claim please? I know it's difficult to bring the food upto me to give me photos or videos. I am genuinely interested in it and want to know if it is true. Of course, it's a whole another story if you just "heard" that they eat live humans from some random place and spreading this misinformation based on that.

It's a known fact for over thousands of years the Chinese ate human flesh. You can read many older records that the Chinese have written. It's a known fact that Confucius ate human flesh. Even today they use humans for meals and babies for herbs.

How ironic that Honda sponsored this particular award at Sundance. Maybe THEY should help shake up the government of Japan and stop the killing of dolphins. (And Whales.)

I was honored to have worked with Ric O'Barry in the late 1980's making the U.S. people aware of the dolphins being slaughtered by the tuna industry. The tuna industry finally capitulated and you now have the dolphin safe label on tuna cans. Ric is a man who has dedicated his life to saving dolphins and I am happy to call him my friend.

@jeannyy1989 the cove is a disgrace. it fuels discrimination/racism by excluding other countries killing dolphins while focusing on a group of ppl or a country..japan. this could've easily been eliminated by also including other countries killing dolphins in a film about dolphin killing.

y a film on japan dolphins as focus when it's not the only dolphins killed or the only animal worth saving.

it's like making an HIV doc and focus only on african ppl.
