I'm 18 years old now and didn't have the chance to watch this while it was going. Ive grown up watching mainstream anime like Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, Fairy tail etc. And nothing come close to Hunter x Hunter, it is by far the most "complete"(ironically) anime you can find. The ost's are amazing and everything is perfect, and the 2011 version is complete and utter shit compared...

@KiPower I think your being clouded by your nostalgia my friend. don't get me wrong, i love the original as well but the remake is a good way for kids today to get the chance to experience the series and madhouse are doing a fine job. rewatching it now there were a few things that could have been better in the old series and while the new one hasnt quite gotten to its level its doing an admirable job.

2011 hxh cant touch this. it's insulting to even compare it. when you take away all the good parts of hxh and the amazing music, you take away what defined hxh in the first place. so what's the good thing left about the 2011 one? if i was remaking a hxh anime and wanted to make it as bad and as insulting to the hxh story as i could, i would do exactly wat the 2011 directors did. of course it's always going to be good because it's hxh, but the way they made it is just as bad as one could do so

Sure the 2011 music is garbage, but the series isn't that bad, the pacing is great for the most part, the animation & character designs are nice, but some of the tone has been dialed down a bit which ticks me off, it seems less darker atm, and some of the tender moments & mind games were rushed over a bit. Not the masterpiece the original is (so far) but still good in its own right.

Go read the last chapters, there are really big surprises, Sasuke that is becoming the bad guy of the manga, Kabuto that becomes one of the best ninja in the world, the war that just began, Kakashi and co that has to face the 5 swordsmen of Kiri, etc...ths story is more better than HXH. In my opinion I like both (I'm a big fan of Yu Yu Hakusho so), but I have to say that I have a preference for Naruto.

In Hunter x Hunter, they can actually go wherever they want, unlike Konoha where ninja are trapped inside the village, only to be released during business missions only. Also, Gon doesn't have a female protagonist bossing him around or inflicting pain on him. Also, Gon becomes well-liked and respected by almost everyone that he meets.

And don't get me started with FMA.
