Don't like the sound of a V12 6.0 liter Ferrari? This is a V12 with a 100+ HP electric motor. It is faster, more exclusive, and more expensive than a regular 599 - hybrid makes it cleaner but there is definitely a lot of haters here. "Ferrari will have hybrid versions of every model by 2013."

i think its more than just the gas, the taxes you have to pay, for a car that does less than 20 mpg is expensive!

also electric cars get way better torque delivery than gas/diesel cars - so its its going to be even more exaggerating to drive! :)

and thats not what i said, i said "delivery" - as in how fast and how much the car can produce over a specific about of time, which then again add to the perfomance.

and just think of a petrol/diesel car, with about 300+ torque, then add another 100+ with a electrical system, which delivers torque instantly, and by the time, the "normal" engine have warmed up, you get another peak of torque.

see that will make a car fast - but still keep the CO2 down.

a ferrari doesn't need much torque... They don't even produce that much torque at all. I get what you're saying.

But a gasoline engine can do the exact same thing. The extra electric engine will only add more weight.

well considering this version, which isnt half finished adds about 100 kg, and when its production ready it will proberly only weight 80 kg or less, and it add 100+ hp, then its very good, i do agree adding weight isnt good, but in the next gen of ferraris (for example) they are going to use more aluminium and carbon fiber which makes them weight less. Now this means that the power to weight ratio is going to be better, plus it will have great acceleration duo to the delivery of torque.

well everything new starts out expensive, and then it slowly starts to fall in price, now in the case of super cars i dont think its going to do much. Since the makers - like ferrari - are just going to make it a limited run in the first couple of years, until the price has dropped, thereby making people want their hybrids, as it makes them special. they will proberly brand it as a "lifestyle" :P

Someone who owns a Ferrari doesn't care about MPG or Co2 emissions. Generally, they also don't drive their Ferrari's every day which makes a Ferrari a pretty fuel/Co2 efficient car in terms of use compared to another car which is driven daily. This hybrid Ferrari in my opinion, is lost in translation just like the new Honda CR-Z.
