The world leader used a slower shortcut, going further up the track before returning. If you look at the date that this video was added and the date of other youtube videos, you'll know who did it this way first.

No wheelie, just a "trick" off the mushroom. You must then hold Down on the joystick to tilt your bike upwards. This lets you climb higher up the mountain.

Do you have to push any buttons or move the joystick (on nunchuck) or any way to rise on the cliff? Are is it just all about angles?

Both, You will need to get the right angle then just before you hit he cliff push your joystick down perfectly. Too much will send you over the mountain. Try to hit the mountain low then rise up alittle. This Ultra shortcut so far is the hardest one to do. GOOD LUCK...

You make it sound harder than it is :)

Josh: hit the wall near where I do. There's room for error and you can hit in many places nearby. After doing a trick off the mushroom, hold Down. When you hit the wall, keep holding Down to climb higher. Then hold Down+Right to ride the mountain. If you go too high up, hold Up to descend quicker. Check my 47.9 vid... it shows 4 laps doing the sc.

Classic Controller, but the difference between cc/gcn/nunchuck is very small.

Is there a certain place you have to land?

Sort of.

How you climb the mountain doesn't matter, but the important thing is not to go too high (e.g. up near the summit) and not to go to low (pass much higher than the top of the finish line's pole). Otherwise it won't count. Additionally, if you land too far left (towards the goombah) it also won't count... you need to land closer to the cave exit somewhere. There may be an invisible checkpoint around there.

this is easier then the slower route for me too^^.

It's harder because you hit the mountain lower and need to rise up more, and rising can be hard. But with some practice it's not so bad... at least the angle of approach is not so bad. The hard bit is making it back onto the road rather than falling into the abyss. My top three laps are 14.8 14.9 15.1, So you can tell I must've made the sc work many times. I've even hit it 2/3!

I think it's worth practicing this sc rather than the slower one. If I can hit it 2/3, surely someone can hit it 3/3.
