Newsted is good, infact i like him in the band a lot, his solos are much cooler then Rob's. But it is not an understatement to say that there are thousands of bassists living today that are better than Jason. And of Metallica's 3 bassists, he just had the least amount of skill. I don't dislike him, he seems like a cool guy, he's a good bassist who has written beautiful music, but it's just ridiculous to say that he could be the best bass player around.

jason newsted <3 when i first started to listen to metallica in 1998, ive got the Load and Re-load records from my mom .. so when i see metallica i see Kirk hammet, james hetfield, lars ulrich and JASON NEWSTED. i miss him very much. If i culd only thank him for his amazing music :'(

120032... There are different pedals. They are used to make the bass sound different. Each pedal has a different sound to the bass. And pick playing and fingers is a matter of preferance. In this case, Jason discovered a unique sound when he played his bass unplugged to an amp (He didnt have one back then.)He did hard downward strokes to make his bass audible. He liked it so much so that's his style now! Hahaha
