I'm sick of Hitler being portrayed as a monster. He was doing what any other leader would like to do, but don't have the charisma,to captivate the ppl as Hitler did.Of course, it took him several tries, and a coup or two. This world is evil deal with it!!!
@jackstone112 You're deluded, this film isnt about nazis, its about the normal german soldier during world war 2. Most Scandinavians are smart and tolerant, sadly you arent.
The production suffered from budget problems and Peckinpah's cocaine use but it's saved by the great action, fascinating scenarios (what to do with the captured Russian boy soldier?) and an assured performance by James Coburn. Interesting to compare this with Kubrick's Paths of Glory (a masterful take on a similar theme).
@comradetirer hahahaha your just mad because you lost more in the war and in this movie the germans kick russkie ass. fuck communism the German Wehrmacht was respectable unlike you pig
1 of the best world war 2 films i have ever seen ebcause it portrays the germans as normal men not the eye rolling fanatics they are always portrayed as in other world war 2 films. Could anyone else suggest any other war films like this 1 preferably in english language or dubbed. Thank you.
@tonymontana1974 I honestly can't think of a single war movie made in the last half century that portrays the average German soldier as an eye rolling fanatic. If anything, they're usually portrayed as far-off figures getting shot and shooting at people, and the personality of the soldier is not delved into. When it is, it's rare that the average German is portrayed as a Nazi. If anything, the portrayal of the Wehrmacht tends to be more sympathetic than the portrayal of the Red Army, our allies.
@TheReva1991 I didnt like das boot when i watched it 10 years ago seemed to be just 4 hours of talking on a submarine. Maybe i will watch it again my tastes in films have changed a little bit.
@tonymontana1974 Enemy at the Gates is quite previsible, stormtrooper and anormaly romantic (and 54% on Rotten Tomatoes). Try Letters from Iwo Jima (the Iwo Jima battle view by Japanese), La battaglia di El Alamein or El Alamein-The line on fire (both are the battle of El Alamein by the view of Italians), A midnight clear, Das Boot (excellent film about German submarine rated 100% on Rotten Tomatoes) and of course Saving Private Ryan. And that's only for the World War II.
Great film to find 'decision before dawn'.
