I think it's funny that some people have never attempt to play a instrument or learn some kind of music theory and have the nerve to judge music. They think they know what there talking about in till they actually analyze and play something in that field.
...she sounds like a non-chopinesque sound non-chopinist who comes in from outside of the Chopin tradition, and makes a mazurka work anyway, using their temperament...sort of risky, but pretty damn neat...ordinarily, it takes twenty years out, after winning the competition, before you begin to sound OK in a piece like this, and most of them never make it...
I hear a lot of complaints about Argerich's "lack of depth" and how she just plays things fiercely and beautifully, but without sensitivity. I think this is a great example of how wrong those complaints are.
@OriginalBasaliskos "depth" in music can be a bit of a laughable notion anyway: utterly subjective, ill defined, based on a load of stuff that we have no real ability to vocalize. At the end of the day you see as much, or as little, in music as you want to. Some people will swear Martha has endless depth, some will call her utterly shallow. Which party is wrong?... both of them: for thinking that such a thing can be defined, and for having the vanity to assume that they "own" that definition!
@OriginalBasaliskos haha I just re-read your comment and realized that it looks like I'm calling you a fool. That totally wasn't my intention! I too am one of those people who would blindly swear that Martha's playing has "depth". I guess we are all fools in a way.

@Dogaradodia I think I know what you mean. Her playing does seem to have this sensuality to it, especially in pieces like this.

@RH98 Thus we should stay with comments like, "It's like a never ending orgasm with her", etc. Those are the best comments in my opinion.
