The 2001 bit has to be my favorite Gilliam animation
Ironically enough, Terry Jones hosted possibly the greatest BBC April Fool's joke two years ago, concerning penguins with dangerous skills.....When Pythons and penguins mix, it's always excellent
This episode is the pinnacle of their achievement. Every moment, every word uttered in this episode is hilarious. There's no time even to rest during the penguin theory. I love Peaches Barkowicz.
And this theory, which became known as the waste of time theory.
And the penguins scored well against BBC program planners.
And they realized obviously that the problem is the language barrier, and the penguins did much better against foreigners who don't speak English.
Part II of the most amazing episode ever. The penguin sketch is so frikkin' amazing. "But, and this is the point, it was LARGER THAN IT WAS!!!!"
Could Marconi have invented the radio if he hadn't by pure chance spent years working at the problem. Are these amazing breakthroughs ever achieved except by years and years of unremitting study. Of course not. What I said earlier about accidental discoveries must have been wrong.
Okay, so listen, it's impossible for anyone to be smart enough to "get" everything in Monty Python. I've watched this episode 8000 times over the years, and I only just got this reference: Part II: The Gathering Storm is a reference to Winston Churchill's history of World War II!
Hey that first animation was making fun of "The SPace Odyssey" wasn't it>? There's this really annoying scene in it where these monkey things smash up skeletons...
so true
i have never seen anything more profound than this sketch

A team of our researchers spent 18 months in Antarctica living like penguins, and subsequently dying like penguins... only quicker.
Proving that the penguin is a clever little sod in his own environment.
