Hi I have an apha mare that i have had for two years but only done trails and halter showing with her. She rides nice but I want to start her in WP training. beginning with the basic jog. She keeps her head down and relaxed at the walk but when I ask for a trot or canter which I want to turn into a jog and lope lol she must throw her head up. what can i do to keep it down? When I move her into the trot and try to slow her down she just goes back to a walk... any advice would really help! thanks
Hello! Sorry it is taking so long to respond back my computer has been broken. You must first get her to give to the bit. When you ask her to give her face you have to keep forward motion. That is very important! Get her trotting and start bumping her face as soon as she gives to the bit release the pressure. That is important b/c that is the reward for giving her face. When you pull on her face make sure you kick her forward to keep your forward motion. Be very patient it takes a while!
