@PreppyPoser1 If you're comparing your own drop shots to players ZJK is trying to drop please stop there. If you're comparing a drop shot such as Waldner's to his realize that ZJK doesn't practice this nearly as often as he should. As he mimics his style after Kong Linghui he's more inclined to dominate the point rather than finish with a drop shot.
I have to say that this new generation of Chinese is quite impressive and probably surpasses Waldner on several aspects. However, I still think that Walder's serve remains the best.
gao did beasty in this match, not everyday you see another player who is able to force zhang jike back from the table, gao surely gave jike a run for his money, good going gao ;)
gao ning played very nicely , but honestly the chinese are on a different league, not even boll can keep up with them . I wish that the new generation will come up with a new boll or samsonov or a legendary waldner that can break the chinese dominance
@bedroo222222 i m afraid that even another boll, samsonov or even a waldner can stop the new breed of chinese... Waldner, even in his prime, was never as gud as this generation of chinese...
@apun94 maybe... It really seems that the younger Chinese players like Ma Long, Zhang, and Xu have broken barriers in terms of athleticism. However, I'd be careful on the point of Waldner, whose style was different entirely and whose prime was so far before the "new breed" you speak of. He was probably the most adaptable and creative player of all time even without the speed and power of today's Chinese. I really couldn't say, but I'd be more inclined to agree with you on this one nonetheless :)
@ImprovinMyGame@ImprovinMyGame You're absolutely right, but don't forget that it's because of players like Waldner, Liu, Kong and even Wang Liqin that the Three Lions are able to excel at this sport. There are aspects of the game that almost every new Chinese player use that could be traced back to the older greats. Kong especially at the moment, but even Kong's technique were developed to beat Waldner.
@LookB3hindU Yes! And it will be exciting to see how table tennis evolves over the next 10, 20, 30 years as fresh young athletes, some not even born yet, build on players of our time and bring new and interesting things to the sport. Techniques not yet conceived; Styles so far undreamt of. I can't wait! :D

As far as I'm concerned, the sets were too close to say ZJK won by a large margin. Kudos to Gao Ning.

the game was very tight..even the score was 4-1..gao ning is very consistent, maybe the only weakness in his game lack of creativeness..

@13CatShitOne37 Nope, Liu Guodong was the coach of the women's team and left the team after the 2008 olympics.
