@str8organic38mm I'm backwards! I play the violin, but I would love to learn the guitar. Because I can't sing and play the violin at the same time. I want to learn an instrument that will allow me to sing and play it at the same time. I love the violin! I'll never stop playing it, I think I'm pretty good at it too.
ive never seen anyone move like that, just to watch the presision and attention to deatail it simply astounding, it almost loks animated its done so well
Yesterday we heard the Red Violin Caprices recorded by Philippe Quint on WFMT and it is just beautiful! I ordered it and am waiting for it to come in the mail. I hadn't heard this piece before. Thanks for posting it! Nice to put the faces to the music as well...
how ridiculous are these negative comments...he is a wonderfully accomplished musician. we only appreciate what we understand, and if one tried to play an instrument it would become obvious how much work it takes to play such music...when will we get over wanting money for everything. most musicians are not wealthy and his violin was a lend from wealthy people who want the amazingly valued instrument to be played by someone instead of sit in a display case.
i think nobody should accept any rewards for be honest, that's what we've to learn, about it, so the money and the concert was just like a great gift for someone who still believe in honesty
you dumbass! He's a musician, not stinkin rich! Thats why the $4 mill violin is on LOAN! I have a $200K violin on loan to me & I've had some close calls. U don't think about the value of it b/c its about as common to you as a belt buckle, and sometimes that catches up to you. So don't fault him for giving a small reward. its not like his donors are going to foot the bill, it's not like they pay insurance or maintenance fees even. Its very expensive to have such a valuable instrument on loan.
Did you hear the one about some dude who FORGOT a $4 Mil violin in a taxi? He left it on the floor. On the FLOOR?! He has brains for music, but apparently lacks in other areas.
Yes, I know who "the dude" is. My point is that a valuable violin should be cared for well and NOT left in taxis... I have a $5,000 camera but I would NEVER put it on the floor of a taxi, and will never forget it anywhere. Lovely music, amazing talent but please be more responsible with this historic violin. see The Red Violin movie

Stravinsky, Copland, and Bernstein did it much better. This is a pastiche of their music. Not impressed.
For the violinist, there must be hundreds like him.

High art my ass.
What a couple of highbrow morons.
It is amusing to see how grave their expressions are while making these noises.
Post-modernism. You gotta love it.

All I can say is what a tight bastard $100-£50 reward for a 4 million violin.

I see your point and I kinda agree, but it was also a concert involved for the taxi drivers.
