Once she was on the ground, she attracted TONS of attention. As you can see, traffic more or less came to a halt, as everyone stopped and got out of their cars to see her. Also, hundreds of ground crew stopped what they were doing to see, take pictures, and (in some cases) even salute her. It was truly a sight to see!
a nice video 10/10 a shame this aircraft was layed to rest but as time moves on so does technologly!. and concorde was so costly to run the now high fuel prices killed it among other things!..... but like a pheonix from the ashes a new more advanced more efficient craft is being built rumoured to be able to due the new york run in under an hour. its currently being tested somewhere in australia. its surposed to be capable of hypersonic speeds.
Sorry to be the killjoy here... the the aircraft that ~was~ being tested in the Australian outback by the Japanese was not designed to be hypersonic, and never even really got to be tested, because the booster rockets designed to bring it to test speed kept exploding and destroying it before sufficient data could be amassed.
Suffice to say-- you wont be seeing any such model carrying passengers, annnnny time soon.
I didn't say anything about efficiency per se, I said CASM.
Something traveling that distance, with so few seats, is going to have horrific CASM anyways. Then factor in speed, and no matter how efficient you are, the faster you go, the more energy you consume (unless you're a kangaroo, lol).
Anyways, yes people did pay those prices at some time-- but would they be willing to come back, sufficiently to justify such a service? Concorde's such market dropped of BIGTIME after the crash...
@ImmortalSynn I was a small child when the Concorde flew into Miami. My older brother who is now an airline pilot wanted to see this. My mother took us to the airport to see it come in. It was a great sight too see. That was the only time it flew to Miami.
The costs were high but it was a luxury item. Miami to Spain is about 11 hrs. Sometimes that Concorde flight would seem like it would be worth it.
@ImmortalSynn You are correct. I was long gone from Mia in '84 and didn't go back until until '96. Still it was impressive to see. Not very economical.
It's so sad that this plane had to be stranded in NY for so long before being able to go home. If 9/11 hadn't broken the Concorde's back, the current economic crisis probably would have.
So sad this is true. But still she was an enormous gas guzzler like all aircraft & machinery. I hope to live to see the day when non-fuel machines (zero pollution) rule the skies, land, oceans, space & our lives. The music is so beautiful. Never heard of Tina Arena but would like to listen to more of her music. A beautiful & touching tribute to the Concord. Thank you.
She's Australian, but she was the first foreigner to have a song hit #2 on French billboards, and is one of only five non-French to sell more than a million for a single album, in France.
What a sad story... Perfection proved to be not profitable enough. You were right, mates, writing about tears and soul. Those drops on the lens are looking like someones tears, too.
Nice video, moving song. Thanks! (Sorry for my English)
...I'm guessing you mean "soul", and if so, I completely agree with you.
I dare say that Concorde G-BOAD looks even more sad right now though, with the majority of its nose ripped off. What a horrible lack of respect for such a storied history! :(
this is a very sad video, I cant stop watching it tho, Love the Song and the video, a Very moving moment today I was flying the SSTsim Concorde online and I had this video playing in the background, I kinda lost my breath for a moment. This is very moving thanks for posting it.
...what good then would Concorde have done you? For most of its (later) service life, it only few to 4 airports in scheduled service: New York/Kennedy, London/Heathrow, Paris/de Gaulle, and Bridgetown.
I know it's tough to see, but if you look in the far background from 1:49 onwards, you'll see hundreds of Air France ground crew who came out to see/salute her... plenty of tears, almost everyone thought that it would end (so unceremoniously) this way.
Amazing how a machine can be so alive and evoke so much love

I more than anyone would like to see it happen... but just not sure airlines themselves would invest in such.
Perhaps contract it out, sorta like KLM and Lufthansa do with PrivatAir

I can't imagine how bad the CASM would be on something like that though...

"That was the only time it flew to Miami."
That's not even remotely true. British Airways used to have SCHEDULED service into Miami, lol. LHR-IAD-MIA-IAD-LHR, supersonic on all segment.
Also, Air France had several charters there that I knew of. Most for wealthy groups to meet up with cruise liners.

couldn't see the ship having survived the fuel insanity of summer 2008.

but it is a nice video

Um... F-BVFC (obviously) never crashed.
The whole point of this video is to show its return home after F-BTSC crashed.
