  • nice

  • Nice video! Nobody ever showed the power side of it. Can you tell me , how you can do the light effects in the locomotives?. Thanks!

  • Hi Delic

  • Is it difficult to set this up? Or is it fairly easy if you know how to wire?

  • @177987auprr1 Very easy, even if you don't knwo how to wire.

  • do you connect it to the track where you connect dc to?

  • @MikeDelic14 does it have sound buttons

  • @ipwnu981 yes.

  • @MikeDelic14 were did you get it how much

  • @ipwnu981 I got it at my local hobby shop. I cant remember how much I payed for it because that was over 3 years ago. I'll ballpark it and say $175?

  • @MikeDelic14 how do you turn it off

  • Nice job ! Thinking about going to n gauge too !! Thanks for sharing

  • I was looking at DCC systems and I am at a fork in the road between Digitrax and NCE. Is the NCE power cab system expandable? If anyone can answer please? If anyone knows the up and downs of both systems please let me know.

  • @LycoValleyRRFan Yes it is expandable. You can even go wireless with it. I would say that both starter systems are pretty much the same, except with NCE being handheld and the Digitrax being a box and the Digitrax has a few less programming options. I like the NCE and I would reccomend it to anyone over Digitrax.

  • @MikeDelic14 Thanks Mike I am still thinking but I might go to NCE.

    Mark

  • @MikeDelic14 I got NCE. I like it. My life like track help too. 15 years never had a problem with electrical conductivity.

  • if i have 75 feet of track ( i am getting some on ebay its CODE 100) and if i get the NCE power cab controller,,,is that all i would need to run 2-4 trains DCC? or does it not come with a power box, source?

  • Can you run another manufactuers product (digitrax for example) with the Power cab?

  • How much is this DCC system??

  • you can get it for $150 on modeltrainstuff, I think i got mine for $180 at my local shop

  • @knightbob81 If you've got a hobby show coming up, there are usually good deals. last hobby show i was at they were going for $140 canadian.

  • @will77537 wow. $140 Canadian is like $200 US now

  • How many engines can you run without a booster?

  • I don't know the answer to that, sorry lol. I normally have about 5 engines running and no problems.

  • @MikeDelic14 OK thanks. Thats good for me because I only have 5 dcc engines.

  • @SouthDakota58 Hey Guy :):):) i can answer your ? it's 6 with no problem i have one on my table at present and it works terrific. But i'm positive it's 6 anymore and you'll probably need a booster i remember read'in that somewhere. But be sure when you do plug that in make sure it's plugged in on the correct side. if not the handheld will register power but there's no way the red led is EVER gonna light at the plug-in face. that one had me stymied real good, before i FINALLY figured it outLOL

  • @SouthDakota58 if its a 3-5amp power input then around 100 if its 1/1.5-3 then anywhere from 3 to 9

  • Hello Mike, I have a question. When you set up the NCE Power cab do you have to wire the layout before running or you don't have to wire the layout at all?

  • You don't nessecarily need to wire the entire layout, you just need to plug the wires into one spot on the track to provide power.

  • @AmtrakTitan455 - that all depends on your layout. I built a layout from one of Atlas' layout books. For that layout, Atlas points out the spots where you should wire to ensure adequate power with no dead spots.

  • @AmtrakTitan455 As a recommendation, you should have a minimum of 12 gauge wire that's powering your track every 10-15 feet - to avoid any voltage dropping. I prefer every 8 feet to ensure good power all the way through the line. If your room is 10' x 12', and your track goes all the way around your room once or twice, you can run your train with just one connection, but keep in mind, the voltage loss may cause your engine to slow down in certain areas for voltage loss if powered by only 1 pt.

  • i love it i have the the same one

  • gotta get me 1

  • jugando dcc

  • Good Stuff! Dead spots are the only problem with sectional track pieces. I have a Lenz LH90. They got me with the ten year warranty!

  • @teddybeareleventeen - now that I have gotten my "feet we" with laying track on a layout, I'd rather go with long sections of flex track ... I don't like messing with all those track connectors which increases the chance of electrical drop issues

  • hehe i accedently said the same question again sorry bout that what i ment to ask could it go with kato n scale sets

  • can you use that for n scale dcc

  • ok, im back for one, Im gonna be getting this in the spring for $160. On my layout i plan to have 4 trains running most of the time. 2 of them will be DC since they will be one solid track no switches just one train each. now on the other 2 i will have them connected, so 2 mainlines connected by 2 switches going all the way around my layout. both of them will also be connected to a yard with some engines in it. will this work for that? 2 main lines + a yard?

  • yes, but it will not run your DC stuff

  • @MikeDelic14 actually it will. you just need program it to 00 and you can run a DC engine. it just has a really annoying buzz the whole time.

  • @PRRK4Lover If you use a seperate DC throttle with supply for your DC tracks then that will be ok. The NCE DCC systems are not able to control any DC loco's unlike some other makers of DCC, due to the way they put power on the rails( I won't go into detail here) . The flipside is that you can get really cheap DCC decoders nowadays, and converting your non DCC loco's should have to cost too much. Adding sound however costs a bit more.

  • @PRRK4Lover - it should work, as long as you wire adequately (at least a couple spots along each mainline, key spots in the yard)

  • @jgehbrr ohh, ive actualyl decided im getting MRC Prodigy advance 2 squared...

  • @PRRK4Lover As long as your DC is wired on a separate track from your DCC, yes your plan will work. One great thing about DCC is, no matter how many engines you have on your track, as long as they each have their own number code, you can move any without having blocks on your track. You can even program them to run head on into each other if you wish, which you can't do that on DC track, although that's a very bad idea considering the cost of DCC engines.

  • Tonys Trains sells them for 140$ flat rate with everything included such as the stuff to turn it into a Procab

  • could you use that to control n scale dcc

  • I believe so.

  • Comment removed

  • I got it for $185 at the time, which was more than a year ago. I have no idea how much it is now.

  • now they run for $175

  • i got one on ebay for $124.00

  • Comment removed

  • thats cool i cant wait to set mine up bun now i need decoders

  • Comment removed

  • ya i need to find a decoder for my nw2 and 2 dash 9 and a ac4400 thats going to be fun

  • if you wanted to do a double header how would you do that

  • use the consist function, read it out of the mannual the first time, but after that it's easy

  • I just bought the nce power cab. but its not running my engines. it makes this beeping sound. do you know whats the problem?

  • Check the wiring in your decoders.

  • thanks! but....... what is the decoders?

  • The reciever in your locomotive that responds to the signals that the Power Cab sends. Without one, your locomotive will not run with DCC.

  • Great! When ever you have the time. I just finished watching a DVD called Street Running--Green Frog is selling them. You might want to look at this as it's very well done and could give you some ideas.

  • Yes, if it's not too much effort. I suspect it' involves quite some time. If it is don't bother.

  • Ok, I'll do one, It only takes a few seconds. I'll try to have the video up by tomorrow.

  • Nice--could you give us a heads up on programming the diesels

  • What do you mean by a heads up? Like how to program?

  • do u have the standard power (13.5 volts) or another power pac......I have a problem with mine (13.5 volts) with sound locos on a big layout cutting out of power can u help me??

  • Yeah I have the standard. Two things, have you tried cleaning wheels or cleaning track? And also do you have more than one spot powering your layout (i.e. bus lines)?

  • My wheels are clean and i just cleaned my track.... i currently have the + on one side and the - on the other...i might run a set of double wires....do u think it could be because of the sound system taking alot of power

  • My brother is gonna get one ( maybe) can u put dem togetha??

  • Need another power district with higher voltage output booster and power supply.

  • I have the powercab pro. I love it

  • how many engines can it have programmed in it? cuz i might buy one

  • I beleive as many as you want but the thing is the one i have is 550$

  • What kind of decoders did you use for the engines because I'm having troubles programming my locos

  • The decoders in these specific locos are NCE.. I havent had problems programming with any decoders though

  • very nice, are you going to do another video on the power cab?

  • This is Sweet. I think I will start building my layout. DCC has

come a long way since I built my first system. A CTC-16 That

    I built back in 1981.

  • did you have to wire the track any special way for the DCC?

  • Nope, same way as DC.

  • That's great, thanks for responding

  • i have the same one i got mini cheap ill maybe post some train videos but the nce is nice and easy to work

  • Did you need to buy any power supply with it/ or did it come with everything?

The NCE look very cool. and you you please tell me where you bought? websit? thank you. i'll appericate any help that you can give me. thak you very much

  • It came with a power supply. I bought mine at a train store in Toronto

  • i cant wait to get mine!!!!

  • i think im gonna buy this. it is a lot of fun. since im part of a club, they have the same thing and i was running the trains it was so fun.

i think im gonna get this. idk

  • yo man great vid i just picked mine up today got it for $141

just curious how much did everyone elses pay

  • after i saw urs i bought one and i just got it in today. i love this thing. mine cost $160.00 that includes shipping

  • where did u buy urs?

  • i got mine off ebay and got mine for $160.00

  • oh i got mine new off a website for $145.00. i was just wondering where u got it

  • how much did it cost? and does it come with sdecoders?

  • around $200, and no

  • do your trains hoave sound tracks

  • That is so cool! I can't wait for my DCC system

  • Oh I am so getting that, thats awesome and I bet a great price too, huh?

  • I've been thinking of a new layout with DCC and the NCE pro cab looks good.

  • definitly cool im gonna look into it.

  • Dose it work on all typs of HO track cuz i have the track without the plastick risers under it ?

  • yup, it works with all types

  • Is it an issue you can only have 2 locos in recall?

  • how did you learn to put the wires together

  • the instructions that came with it... its pretty simple, just plug them into the track and youre ready to go

  • Nice work! 5/5!

  • have the zepher digitrax one same thing dcc rox

  • oh yea!!

  • How much is this???

  • around $200.. then $25 for a decoder

  • Gosh darn it, a little too much.

  • you only have one feeder on the layout? Becuae i'm wiring my DCC system too and just wondering

  • ya i only got one feeder right now, thats probably all ill have, theres no power drop at all:D i'm gonna buy the booster for it though..

  • You'll find the SB3 and power brick hooks up really easily, and works flawllessly. The cab boots up right away when you turn the system on too!

  • ok, kool, thanks for the tip

  • Love my NCE Powercab! I added the SB3 Smart Booster and P515 power supply easily. It's just a user friendly system!

    Nice Demo!

  • thanks! ya i wanna get the booster too, maybe later this year

  • im from the lmmrrc ant the san diego model railroad museam and we run pro cab and we run wireless and wierd and if you bring an power cab theoltle and with the other cord it came with you can run it on an pro cab throltle

  • you know you can consist the 2 loco togrgether

  • i know, but 2 seperate locos was a better demonstration

  • I am looking at getting back into model train and I have a Quick question, So you can team 2 or more loco up together to work as a team on the NEC power cab?

  • yes that is called a consest

  • @19redskins71 - yep. You can program a consist for the two or even assign the same loco number to both of them and run that way

  • waht kind of trak do you use

  • Bachmann EZ Track.

  • I'm just curious (and I don't know very much about DCC--only what I've been reading lately), how did you decide upon NCE? Good luck with it AND with your railroad.

  • its what my local hobby shop sold, and it had the most features

  • Thanks for demonstrating your new DCC system. Looks great. Good luck as you continue working on your railroad.

  • no problem, i hadnt seen many videos on youtube about DCC, so i thing this one was a must.

  • thanks

  • no problem

  • if i were to buy the nce powercab would i have to buy a dc power pack to run my switches or could i use the nce

  • the only way i know is to have a dc power pack, the only way i know how to do it with nce is to have decoder equipped switches, whitch are a little pricy

  • be lucky you didn't get digitrax, I've run into a few design and feature errors........

  • tru, i was gonna get digitrax but no hobby shops in my area had it.

  • Hi there, since you have dcc you need sound locomotives, i suggest the atlas gold series, I have a b23-7, it is amazing,

    Good Work

  • ya thats the next thing on the list, im thinkin atlas gold or ath genesis

  • sorry:( i possted it to much

  • how do you work the switchs with that? you have like 5 or more how do you use them?

  • how do you work the switchs with that? you have like 5 or more how do you use them?

  • i just manually switch them, ill have them wired once I get the final track plan

  • Love that Power cab

  • nice to see you got your new NCE DCC system.i,m thinking about getting one.how much was yours?do you locos have sound?

  • the standard version with around 2 amps is about $150

  • the system was $200 at georges trains in markham. Sadly, i have no sound in any of my locos, I'll prob just buy a loco with sound the next time i get one.

  • oh ya:D

  • nice!

  • SICK! i wish i could afford something like that!

  • birthday present:D but i bought the decoders..

  • oh ok. cool!!

  • that is sick! when i (might) start a layout ima by one of those! great vid!

  • thanks!

  • Bitchin'! awsome shit What is the grey loco a Seaboard?

  • yep!
