This has to be one of my favorite songs of all time by Ratatat. What they do requires so much passion and creativity. Like @vladtepesdrac said, it is more difficult to do only instrumental than it is to do vocal. With vocal you can get away with less music, with instrumental it is taken to an entirely different level. I can't wait to see these guys live one day. It's going to make my life.
Yeah...I found out how awesome these guys are around Octoberish of this year...1 freaking month after they had toured through arizona....what a tragedy
I really don't understand why they don't play with a live drummer, it wouldn't sounds spot on like the record but it would give the performance so much more energy
@NUCLEaR727 When I went they did drum work and Taj lost his stick So he started to play with his hands and played on Gaz's drum at some points...it was sick
Truly amazing. This live version definitely sounds much better than the studio version. The intro is what made the song... creates such a chill and calm atmosphere.
i don't know about best band in the world man. definately best insturmental band in the world, by far. no one esle even comes close. but such a huge part of music is in the lyrics and its hard to say a band with no lyrics is the greatest. but they are certainly top five bands in the world right now, lyrics or not!!
But, just imagine how much harder it is to create music that TELLS YOU A STORY, WITHOUT SAYING A WORD! I think it's almost harder to create instrumental music that stays interesting; because you have that much more of a challenge. With lyrical songs I can pick 3 chords and strum them on my guitar, then sing about my lost love! Ratatat is a million times beyond that, you can't even compare anything to them! They take your imagination to places you'd never imagined you could go, w/o saying a word
@arfx3 the joy o r@@@ is that no matter who you are, you can experience the music differently. and depending on your mood/ state of mind the song can sound different after the 20th time hearing it. lyrics limit feeling
@vladtepesdrac you can compare them, Explosions in the Sky is a great example. Both great and talented. You dont find many bands these days who can do this, so you are right, HARD TO FIND. Great stuff
@discusman09 oh yah, Explosions in the Sky is one my top favourite bands too! Theyre on a whole other level as well! Unbelievable the amount of emotion pouring from their songs, their multi-guitar creativity is magical!!

The single loudest show I've ever been to was these guys at the Crystal in Portland. Crowd almost tore the building down. Amazing show.

@aestusmaris They do drum stuff themselves during interludes and such. In the show that I went to on Friday Evan did drum work for Gettysburg.
