well, i have the same set up except the floor toms are switched around, so no, its not that crazy of a set up. It helps for punk and makes the kit more symmetrical, making it easier to do fills both ways as well as serving as an "auxillary tom" if you will, similar to a popcorn snare, good for ghost notes. and the bass sounds fine to me

its the set up most pop punk drummers have, when they do drum fills, they dont have to re-angle there hands much like on a standard set up, so they can move around the kit quicker. but its whatever is comfortable to the drummer
