Makes my eyes wet uncontrollably when I think of departed Maestro Franco including others who contributed to this soul-searching Hit. No words can describe the emotional drain this track brings along........you would have to be a neuron-less human being not to feel the heat of the hit! Great sons of Africa that brought us pride and identity world over. A rich culture that is talent-packed. Creativity, skill and genius of rare kind. Music that trascends all cultures and age, defying technology
It was 1973 when Franco and OK Jazz came to Tanzania. They performed one show at the National Stadium. When OK jazz played "Dje Melasi" they brought the stadium down. We had never seen anything like that. The Maestro himself was at his best. The blowing section was teriffic. It was quite an experience. In an interview with the Daily News Franco said that whenever he goes in Dar es Salaam it was songs by OK Jazz on the radio but he cautioned that those were old ones...
Thank you, Aboubakkar Sidikh: This song's been one of my favourites since the '70s when I was in secondary school! I agree none can beat this kind of singing.
This song was an absolute hit....been looking for it for ages. Aboubacar thanks a million. I can now blast my system as I remnisce over my dancing days in high school....the rythm guitar is out of this world. It's almost like the guitarist was 'torturing' the guitar. This was when music was music not this ....of today!
This is a good one. it reminds me of high school days. It is a good as it was then. I still listen to it when I am home sick from here in Michigan, USA.Apparently I use music like this one to transport my mind back to Kenya.
@AboubacarSiddikh Here are lyrics (in Lingala) (1) Na kota makanisi, banda to boyana. Na ko yeba tina te, mama kanisa. To wuti Gbadolite, pantalon na mokaba. To ndima Nganga a Nzambe, lopete na mosapi. Dje Melase weta weyi, solo to boyani. (2) Na komi kolemba nzoto, celi palado. Soki bolingo ya kisi, mama fongola. Noki na kufa bo mwana, Nzapa dolokolo. Na lembi la vie te, pitie. Sadumbi namo, mama ngoya.
Husband trying to win back wife DjeMelase, telling how he has suffered since love breakdown
This is an example of the "Incredible" music of the 70's. I was bearly twelve yrs when this song hit the music world. It was instantly my personal anthem...

This one alone is enough to break into the charts and remain at the top globally ,even today as we speak.
