  • Hammer Stück

  • love the lyrics in this song so so much

  • Kiss my eyes....... Beautiful song..... thank you!

  • @ (ghostsonatasong)

    ah the fabled mix tape.

    lost and gone forever.

it's better to have loved and lost (mix tapes) than to never have loved at all...

  • Wherever you are Mr Murphy I hope you are well!

    Ive always loved you.

  • This man is a freaking genius!!!! I saw him last week in Pittsburgh and was one of the best concerts I've been to in a looong time. I managed to make an ass out of myself while talking to him after the show.....way too much jagr

  • @micheleengful

I saw him in Buffalo in April and did the same thing. We had back stage passes and I couldnt talk at first but then couldnt stop!

  • Ja, wunderbar!!! There is no better Peter Murphy song!

  • Wunderbar.

Es lebe Marlene Dietrich. Patriotin und Pazifistin in einer Person. Hätte es nur mehr Menschen wie sie gegeben, gebe es doch nur mehr Menschen wie sie einer war.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!

  • Another great song! I'm surprised there aren't more comments!

  • Beutifully done video

/Just wise owl tones no velvet lies/

  • a beautiful token of admiration to a fantastic woman!

  • This song had me in a trance I first heard it on a mixtape my first boyfriend gave me.

Beautiful video. Thanks for posting it.

  • @glyphreader ahhh, the mixtape, the romantic gesture.

    thank you for your compliment.

  • This was one of my all time favs by him. Beautiful and haunting.

  • i wanted to listen to this haunting, beautiful song tonight. ive had a horrible week (and only 1/2 over) and my relationships are not satisfying, despite my giving all i can. i feel i am taken for granted, and/or taken advantage of.

i want to soak this in and let my feelings just roll out of me like the waters of the great Niagara at the pinnacle of the Falls. and they will.

  • @jas22 well, then... the posting of this video has not been a vain thing.

thank you for your comment, i am there too.

  • thank you, ghost. its been a long week. i work outdoors and the weather has been hell. that compounded my gloom, which otherwise i would well deal with internally. i wish you peace.

  • @jas22 if this helped you for one second, it's more than i ever expected.

    i also wish you peace.

  • @jas22: I am soooo sorry jas22 to read that!! I hope you find peace and a normal guy soon (I strongly assume you female since guys here are the shit, & yes, they will always take you for granted, take advantage of you, cheat on you&what have you! Been there done that, was married to one :-( now I have been single for a looong time & feel great!! You have to heal& just be by yourself & u will be fine- promise!

  • He is the best singer I've seen in a concert...What a voice and talent!!! Thanks for the video!

  • @lullakure you are welcome.

  • I just bought Deep, after having bought the Wild Birds compilation, and agree this is one amazing song. What a talent - I'm glad he's still around performing such great music.

  • He is coming to town, cant wait!

  • Peter Murphy para sempre!!!!!!!!!

    obrigado pelas tuas musicas ;)

  • Geat song!!!.

  • Mejor canción no puede haber !!

  • Simply beautiful- this goes straight into my heart and soul...extension of self...

  • My fav from 1990. Love the stories told by the sounds of music

  • Good God, this song is beautiful. I used to go to sleep listening to it. Very fine!

  • This is HANDS DOWN Peter Murphy's best song. And probably in my top 10 favorites of all time - and that says a lot and puts in a league of greatness!

  • Peter Murphy is a musical genius!

It was unfortunate that shortly after he released Deep both him and his musical contemporaries of that time period were soon to be drowned out by that bullshit called grunge!

Sorry if I offend but grunge is a musical style nobody listens to anymore and it killed the careers of many talented alternative artists of that period!

  • So true... very upsetting.

  • @ryanspeed Because it was the time period of a complete take over by the corporatocracy, witch in turn almost destroyed Authentic music for the masses and gave them Disney corporate boy band crap.

  • @Ckordobah Agreed!! True talent was flushed down the toilet in favor of this good looking boy band make a buck quick nonsense!

  • I was and still am in to Peter in a very deep profound kind of way, I adore Him and the Sisters, FTN, Joy Division, Siouxie, and so forth, Radiohead for me is the most brilliant of out time but there are others I love as well but Radiohead ? They are Musical Geniuses.... Brits are amazing Musicians..

  • @ryanspeed Yes, I agree but the origins of grunge and garage band music was punk rock/anti-commercialism. Kurt Cobain, the uncrowned 'King' of grunge wrote, 'Punk is musical freedom. It's saying, doing and playing what you want.' sought to embrace punk but instead found himself being exploited ... Many bands were tagged 'grunge' hated the musical 'sausage factory' approach of the big labels, I know quite a few who split-up rather than 'sell out' ... Thanks for sharing this one, a haunting song

  • Grunge is just a generic term created by corporate money making pigs in our society that means nothing but scum on your toilet bowl rim. No matter what music came around in the early 90's, this music remains a classic in my collection that I still listen to today - along with Nirvana.

  • The problem I have with grunge is that talent-wise it was over-distorted, too stripped down and too simplistic. I also didn't care for the depressive angst, misery and gloom-n'-doom it preached about either, but hey, to each their own.

Now David Grohl and the Foo Fighters I liked but I didnt give a crap about Nirvana! Yet again, to each their own!

And no, I'm no 80's metal "hair band" junkie either!

  • @ryanspeed have u heard Cascade? It's his best album. Better than Deep. Let me guess you r under 20?

  • @JDENNERDOG I wish I was under 20...I'm almost 40! To be honest I haven't heard Cascade but I'll check it out.

  • @JDENNERDOG You can't have heard Dust! What did you think of Holy smoke? I thought there were only 2 songs strong enough to warrant consideration on any potential Peter Murphy compilation album.

  • @ryanspeed Now with the internet, it´s time to render Deep the honors it should have received in the early 90´s. Such a piece of art.

  • @ryanspeed You cant see things that way, music changes and so much of the whole grunge thing was directly inspired by murphy, bowie, and their counterparts...they all had their day.

  • @peterjoseph100 Sure, music changes. I understand that...but screaming unintelligible angst-driven lyrics about your bleak miserable gloom and doom life into a mic set to an uber-distorted loud guitar to me is not music. I guess that's just my opinion.

Woody Allen once said: "If a man walked out on stage and vomited there would always be someone in the audience to call it art!" Grunge epitomized that in spades and looking back at it now it amounted to nothing more than a smear on us all!

  • Why is it called" Marlene Dietrich's Favourite Poem "?

    What's the connection?

  • It's about a scene from the film Marlene where she reads "Der Liebe Dauer".

  • Comment removed
