  • you should release all the fish

  • Thats the worst way of handling the fish, i doubt you released any?

    Ali - Pk

  • No, not the best way to handle fish and we did keep them... HOWEVER this video is an old one when Masheer were not under the threat they are today. If you look at my other fishing videos you will see we treat Maheer with more respect these days and return most of them ! Leaving aside semantics the main danger to Masheer in India is uncontrolled poaching especially the use of 'noosing' - heavy duty lines with hundreds of nooses strung across big rivers which are devastating Masheer stocks.

  • Thanks for clearing this up and i totally agree with you on the fact that mahseer is under threat now a days thats not coz of over fishing but their habitat loss and dams, bunds etc which stop them going upstream to spawn.

    cheers

    Ali

  • Fantastique ! C'est le Paradis.

  • This is in North India, fishing in the Mahakali River on Western Nepal border. For a write up on a similar trip lookup 'field and stream magazine,USA' on internet then go to 'freshwater fishing' and then a recent article 'Hunt for the Himalayan Masheer'Its a good read !

  • Where abouts in India is this? My parents are from India. A friend and I have talked about going to India for a fishing trip. Accommdation isn't an issue for me, I'll just stay at my parents home, but would love to fish where you are in this vid.

If I remember correctly fishing for the mahseer was shown on a programme called 'Jungle Hooks'.
