@AliansDoExist R9 was a pure striker... Messi is a winger at heart that plays in attacking midfield with Argentina. Idk theres too many factors to say R9 was better. R9 was always in great teams remember that. Even in the national side. Messi is used to Barca and has a hard time to adapt to Arg. For many reasons; one of them is that his teammates are not of his calibre, another is the hard time that the fans give him. For wearing the number 10 shirt. I would go as far to say that his passing exceeds his dribbling. what makes him special is that he creates panic and you need more than one person to mark him, as proven with Bosingwa and Lampard in his game vs Chelsea
