You should rack off the alcohol from the car boy and avoid the mash "junk" getting into the pressure cooker. I understand that the first distilled ounce would blind you if you drink it. Don't drink it. LOL Couldn't you simplify the cooling coil by inserting it into the ice bath with the alcohol drip coming out of the bottom of the tank. JB weld could help you achieve the water tight "weld". Making some ginger ale right now, two more days and yummy! This is a good direction for your vids.

you need to make a hue rig with 49 gal oil drums and gas burner and some presser release valve in the pipes that go out far away from the gas burner, and run some pipes under ground to cool the water used for condensing the alcohol,

Just a word of caution for anyone wishing to dring this stuff... If there's ANY traces of METHANOL in the distillate and you drink it, you will be rendered permanently blind. YES permanently BLIND. Methanol attacks & destroys the optic nerve. Look it up on the web if you don't believe me.

If you're interested in making fuel, you'll probably need to build a still many, many times the size of this one to produce any usable results at a reasonable rate. Check out a book call "Alcohol can be a gas" This guy's not producing enough fuel to run his car on. He might be drinking it though....

Maybe you could run a lawn mower. It would take you a month to fill up a car feul tank that you'd go through in a week? I don't see any sense in a setup this small or a 15.5 gal keg for that matter. Use lead free solder and drink it instead.

Okay so if i understand correctly what you made is "Ethanol" and not "Methanol ". Now i know these are both used as fuels but isnt producing Ethanol the same as producing Moonshine? Which means in theory you could drink it as well? (most likely after being diluted of course).

Im guessing so. Again it burns so its way to strong to drink.  I in no way promote the drinking of this stuff. Your health is very important and its a lot easier to keep your good health then gain good health after loosing it.

This is moonshine. It is safe to drink, in low quantity of course. Methanol is extremely toxic in any amount, by the way. I do have one problem with ethanol fuel. It takes more than one gallon of ethanol to equal the combustion of one gallon of regular gasoline. There is a point when gas may be cheaper to use.

@mixcatcom Just because it's flammable doesn't mean it's unsafe to drink. It's more about how MUCH one drinks. However I'm not so certain using aluminum pots for drinkable ethanol is a good idea. For ethanol to burn in an engine it should be just fine. Nice video though, straight and to the point.

Its a small pond pump. I got it on ebay really cheap. Everything has been trial and error.

First run it comes out about 60-70% the 2nd go 90ish %

I was wondering how cost effective this is. You need to use power to make the ice cubes, run the pump and boil the mash for 1 hour or more. Does the cost of the electricty to do all this, work out less than buying the same amount of gas?

Interesting video. Unfortunately, distilling your own stuff is illegal around here in Germany as far as I know unless you have got a distilling license - and as far as I know you can only inherit one, there are no new licenses issued at the moment.

I took a gravity sample and its over 75% If I double still it your looking at 90%

No prob to burn at all.

A few of your other videos relating to survival techniques mention using ethanol for a stove, or other misc. things, but in this video you distinctly mention using electric power to heat the pressure cooker since it's safer than flame. In the case that some event occurs that causes drastic survival techniques to be necessary, how do you plan to deal with the heating, cooling required for distillation? Great video, really interesting.

Great questions!

Well if your going to do this over an open flame you have to make a flour and water mixture and you put that dough around the top of the cooker.. this will keep any vapor issues at bay.

It will form a crust that will seal the top and make it safe to run over open flames.

I think sea salt would corrode the cupper, perhaps some other salt without the chloride,...

Also i think that anti-freeze would scale up the risk-factor, because it is flameble (is it?)

VERY cheap! $1ish a gallon..

Want to make it cheaper? Get bad donuts from DnD's they toss them out.. You can use this for your corn and sugar, just add warm filtered water and yeast. This is only in a crunch.

Keep in mind not everyone if our system were to collapse we might have to make our own stuff. This is more of a how to.

We can even use stale breads like donuts and plant clippings with yeast and sugar.

So its really cheap. Under $1 a gallon.
