  • It's the underwater recording system.

  • I could kiss that director..

  • Don't miss St. Olaf's Christmas concert on public radio soon..it is a cherished tradition for my husband and I. How we love them!

  • Is this choir director still living folks? I would like to congratulate him for the finest representation anywhere of this most wonderful of choral works..in spite of video quality

  • @0:14 center screen! It's Harry Potter!

  • an entire choir of vibrato soloists.....not a good idea

  • @sethmusic That's just the awful sound quality. I have sung with these ensembles and the real sound is a LOT better than all the warbling that you're hearing.

  • Flipping gorgeous! Thanks to all who participated and made this video possible. Thank you.

  • It would be beautiful

  • I love this piece, it was my HS choir signature piece. We did not sing it when I was in the St. Olaf Choir. The St. Olaf Choir was and still is one of the top internationally recognized high performing non-professional choral ensembles. I don't think most of us will ever sing at that level of musicianship again outside of a professional group. We rehearsed 5 days a week for one and a have hours per day. A huge sacrifice of time, but I think for the most part...worth it

  • Best interpretation.

    Worst quality. Lol.

  • @percphs it's from 1983...what do you expect with the quality with what was available at the time? Despite the poor recording quality...it is easy to see that this choir nailed this to the wall in this performance!!! Wonderful wonderful wonderful!!

  • This must be from the 70's or early 80's because of the hair styles.

This is an excellent hymn. It is a Russian Orthodox hymn

Whatever you ask for in prayer believe that you recieved it and you will have it Mark 11:24

  • @johnclones December 1983. I'm in the choir! O Day Full of Grace and Salvation is Created were my favorite pieces in those performances- a capella, beautiful arrangements.

  • @haugwi01 I have no clue what your hearing I hear no solos I'm hearing whats written on the score.

  • St. Olaf's choirs have always been and always will be among the best college choral groups in the United States.

    Thank you for posting.

  • Wow, does Kenneth Jennings look young (compared to when I last saw him in the early 90s)!

Late 70s or early 80s vintage recording would be my guess...

  • I was going through all the other choirs and I could not find one that sang as my choir in H.S. did, this is so accurate of how we sang it. (we were top 3 of the state) in 1990. Brings back memories, ty !

  • My church choir in St. Louis performed this piece Sunday, 12/20/09. At first I thought it was dreary; the actual performance convinced me otherwise. I was so fixed on each note that it became part of me and my personal best to date. Thanks.

  • i've listened to all the choirs listed on you tube for this one. this is superior to all. granted, this has advantage of perfect acoustics and sound reproduction but it is intrepreted superbly. the dynamics are spot on. the blend is perfect. all this with an oversized choir is quite remarkable. this appears to be a early to mid 80's film, right? i have a couple of this college's records and this group is always stellar. thanks for sharing this one. it's added to my list.

  • This is gorgeous. Loaded with texture and expression. The sopranos soar, the men's voices are perfect, anchoring the whole. Thank you for sharing.
