One of my Favorite QR songs I had This version on a Bootleg VIA-The U.S Mail, rmrmber that?????On 10th generation VHS!!! remember those???
I always thought it sounded like the FREEBIRD Chord Progression .This is GREAT Quality Sond/Picture except the Dropouts Obviously. The one on my tape were in the Same spots, but the whole thing is a 4-6 if this is a 10.
Too bad they never did a studio recording of this, when QR did it on Condition Critical changed the Words & Phrasing t ruined it for me.
Thats the story ,over Breakfast appearently??Randy was being "Forced" into recording ( what ended up being Speak of the Devil) A live album of Sabbath tunes,he was Contractually bound & wasnt a Big Sabbath fan to begin w/look at the solos he did on the Sabbath tunes w/Ozzy.Ozzy owed 2 albums or a double Live album to fufil his shitty contract on Jet.So the story is he was to do the Sabbath album (prob to get some Royalties for Sabbath had bad contracts too & he didnt own the publishing)
Shouldn't Randy have gotten some kind of writing credit for Winner Takes All on the Condition Critical album since it's basically this song with different lyrics? You'd think it would have only been fair.
Randy was your teacher? That must have been so cool. I heard that he was a great instructor and that he tried to pull out the best in every student, encouraging you to find your own voice on guitar. You are a member of a very exclusive club: Only a handful of guitarists can say their teacher was the incredible Randy Rhoads. How about sharing some stories of your lessons with Randy?
Just any story that stands out in your mind about the time you spent with Randy will do. I'm sure there must be some musical philosophy or some humorous ancedote.
Hi, do you think Randy would have quit Ozzy and gone to USC to learn classical guitar? I heard in an interview for guitar world that Ozzy wanted him to stay in the band to earn a little money first.
Rudy Sarzo, Tommy Aldridge as well as Ozzy have said that Randy was pretty fed up the rock star life and Randy's mom checked out her alma mater, UCLA for classical guitar program. Matter of fact Randy talked to Ozzy about leavin the band at the end of the tour and Ozzy puched him in the face.
Thanks for the reply. Did Randy play any Jazz or Progressive rock type guitar during his lessons? I heard he wanted to do some light jazz recording, something different than Ozzy. I read he got punched in the face by Ozzy too. I think he would have recorded more with Ozzy, but stayed at UCLA to learn , and let someone else do the touring with Ozzy. I think he wanted to learn Classical guitar too much to tour with Ozzy much more. They recorded Blizzard of Ozz pretty quickly.
There is a story about that going around. It happened over an argument on Randy leaving Ozzy, which wasn't long before Randy died. Not sure if it's true or not.

This has never been confirmed and Rudy Sarzo didn't write it in his book. However he did say that Randy was very much done with Ozzy's band. That he would fulfill his contractual obligations and then he was done.
I was at this show. I used to think the song was called "Untie My Strings" Man, me and my boys never missed a uiet Riot gig in '79. We saw them at the Whisky, Starwood, and even down in Long Beach. They were great!
Did Randy change his solo much from show to show? I love his playing on his solo. What guitarists did he like and talk about the most? It must have been great having him as a teacher. Did he do some wild stuff at your lessons with him? Thanks for any response.
The end of this song is from Randys acoustic song "Dee". He also uses the end of the song while playing "Goodbye To Romance" live. Personally its one of my favorite riffs.
i was just checking now, i listed to goodbye to romance and the end of it sounds exactley like the end of this and i listed to dee to and it sounded like that to in the end xD
God called Randy so He could play His Guitar in Paradise!!!But we miss Him here on the eart!!!I hope to meet You one day wherever You are...REST IN PEACE MY DEAR!!!
