Interior architecture (sterile) and class size indicate a US public high "school." If this was a private US school Mr. Sciponi (aka Sean Penn) would be taking CANADIAN HISTORY and be speechless with admiration over the incredibly fascinating and world shattering events in the history of that nation north of the 49th. paralell!
@Forehead2Brick And YOUR generation spends YOUR FAT ASSES on Twitter and Facebook interacting with Virtual friends because you can' t relate in the REAL world, listen to music that is SPOON FED to you by Corporate Pigs, and think you are Musicians because you play Rock Band, and YOU were saying about OUR Generation?
@ReplbliSCUMSareSICK Actually Im not fat, I respect my elders and have a FB for networking purposes. I hate most new music and my favorite band is Zeppelin, I relate fine in the real world except I was suspended for dope. I dont play Rock Band, instead I enjoy Football, Lacrosse, Weightlifting, and Xbox. I could understand you would be pissed about someone insulting your generation, but your giving insult to yourself by lashing out at some weirdo like this. Any mature adult wouldnt care.
Wow! It's rare that you'll see a High School movie and be able to say that in the years to come, almost the entire cast will go on to have successful careers as serious actors. Sean Penn, Judge Reinhold, Forest Whitaker, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Phoebe Cates, Nicholas Cage ALL AMAZING TALENTS. And my favorite scenes are the ones with Spicoli and Mr. Hand.
@Mr1131988 You forgot Eric Stoltz... aka. the drug dealer from Pulp Fiction. ;-) Also, Anthony Edwards. Oh... and the guy who robs the Quickie Mart at the end of the movie is James Russo, who has been in everthing from "Beverly Hills Cop" (he was the Eddie Murphy's frind ho got killed by thugs near the beginning of the film) to the Kevin Costner movie "Open Range" where he played the bought and paid for town Marshall.
@DBMalone Yeah I could relate to that scene when I got my first job and it was in a fastfood. Then your boss tells you to be proud of it. Haha. Lana Clarkson was also in that film as Mr. Vargas' wife. She's dead now.
i remember back in the 80's-90's Howard Stern would use the "You Dick" soundclip a lot... especially when he had Richard Simmons in, and he would always get annoyed when it was played...lol
anyone young would not understand the "sniffing of the paper" at the end of this scene..for those who do not know what this is all about ill tell you.......before there were photo copy machines schools made copies on a machine called a "mimeograph". It was a primitive form of photo copy machine....the ink or maybe it was the paper had the most strange addictive odor. Everyone would sniff the paper. We were probably getting high off it....nobody even cared that it was probably poisonous/addictive
@HesterDW Re: THE END SCENE WHERE THEY SMELL THE PAPER: yeah, mimeographs printed in a light blue ink......the smell was absolutely addictive. It had an indescribable strong chemical oder. To this day I have never smelled anything even remotely close to it...had to be toxic........it's like trying to describe what the interior smell was like in cars made before 1970.......ya just can't explain it........
@inkey2 God I remember that! I also remember that the papers, just after being copied, were cold. They weren't wet or anything, just really cold and had that really nice smell on them.
The smell is hard to describe. It was a pleasant sweet smell. Like a fumey-ink. It would only make you temporarily, 5 seconds or so, lightheaded. It wasn't capable of doing much but we got as high as we could. Right guys? lmao
@feraloner It's a good question. It had a very soft almost sweet smell. There was an odd kick to it too, though I wouldn't call it a high. It could often make your face go numb if it was recently printed.
@inkey2 if there's one thing that daddy doesn't like, it's being second guessed- especially if it's by a genius. so trust me when i tell you, you are our intellectual superior and all of us come here- to this video -not to hear the repartee played out by a one mr. hand and a jeff spicoli, but to bask in the brilliant splendor of your comment which has enlightened us all. we are all better people for having stopped to read your insight into an era lost, but not forgotten, thanks to you. knish.
@zkxb as much as I would like to claim being a genius for knowing this.....everybody in my age group knows about the "smelling of the mimeograph copies".........just like every 90 year old remember WW2....lol
@inkey2 -- those were the days! I remember my teacher picked me to go get the copies that were just run off the machine and they were still cold... not sure why but they always were cool and smelled good. I also remember the ink was blue, not black like today's copies.
LOL........"this is US history....I see the "globe" right there".....did anyone else "get that".........he thought he would be studying the globe in U.S. History
@Spartacus217 At Close Range...very good film! Remember, that I said it's been a LONG WAY DOWN for Sean Penn from his original high point in 'Fast Times...' to the quagmire at the bottom of aravine that he now finds himself in! I know there were some good points on the way down! Racing With The Moon, with Nicholas Cage, being another standout!
@SKOTP69 He would've made a good Larry Fine in the upcoming 3 Stooges movie, but he backed out. Personally I think they should abort the 3 Stooges movie. Nothing can come good out of it.
@Spartacus217 Well! I hadn't heard about that! he MIGHT have begun redeeming himself as Larry Fine, but yes, there's no real need for anything like that. I watched a Three Stooges bio-telemovie a while bac, and no, it's not good...just the the Three Stooges BE, that's better!
@ThatMexicanKid101 ... Back in the day when copies were made with REAL INK in a drum-style printer, everyone would enjoy the fragrance of the 'fresh' ink. Ask your parents about that.
@tazztt1 please, that's weak ****. i remember back before printers in the 50's...see how stupid bragging about old technology is? i mean vinyl is one thing.
