Just to clear any confusion, Ultra Games were a subsidiary that Konami used to release more games per year than their contract with Nintendo would allow for.

I'm sorry. He is correct. But what I meant was not that the MSX was a console, but rather played many games in a Console-like fashion. Several awesome games for the MSX were later ported to NES, including but not limited to Metal Gear and Bomberman.

Metal Gear for the NES sucked. MSX is the only version to ever play it on. And by that extension, modern gamers need only to get a PS2 or better and grab Metal Gear Solid 3 : Subsistance. That's the only good port out there.

No, kiddo. MSX is a Japanese equivalent system to the original Nintendo. I personally have no clue what it stands for, but regardless, Metal Gear for the MSX was solid, included two much better bosses than the NES version. Likewise, the NES version presented by Ultra is an accident, a contract misunderstanding on the part of Konami. NES made a horrible version and a worse sequal, so Hideo Kojima made an ACTUAL sequal that kicked ass. NES FTL

Nintendo limited the number of games each publisher could produce a year, so Konami made up Ultra. Defender stunk, but Skate Or Die and Metal Gear were great! Other good Ultra games were TMNT and Base Wars.
