This is D-Day pay back time against German Cars. British cars owned by Americans. I just got one last week. Man.... This car is fantastic, unbelievable! I will never want to drive a German car again... its so vibrant and full of character.

yeh i was in the old shape XKR today and it was alot faster than i thought it would be, and ive been in an E63 AMG.

when u floor the XKR it pauses for a split second, as if the engine is saying "do u really want me to show you what full power is like... Ok ????" and then it kicks down and ur offffffffff! great noise aswell

I like how they were like "Let's see who's faster the XKR or the GTi!!" and the GTi pulls away on a couple of the corners...

Also, face it, if A Jaguar can't pass a Hyundai....that's just pathetic.

Buy an Evo for 1/3 the price have even more fun because of the massive amounts of grip and still win against the XKR...

Okay when the passenger finishes saying: "Watch how fast this XKR can slingshot past this GTI, I say less than 5 seconds!!!", it was at :48 seconds.....they don't pass him until 1:26. You do the math.

Also, face it, that video was pathetically rehearsed. "THIS THINGS FAST WE'RE SITTING ON A BUCK THIRTY FIVE BUCK THIRTY SIX, THIS THINGS FASTER THAN A GT500 DOWN THIS BACK STRAIGHT!!!!!!"

No sir, put a porsche 911 gt3 RS out on the track if you want to compare the "best of Wolfsburg".

1) The GT3 would CRUSH the XKR

2) The GT3 sounds a million times better than that pathetic automatic transmission.

Let me tell you the Trans is faaaaaaaar from pathetic, it is really in harmony with driver/engine...it's just perfect!

He chose it over an m6/911T/ran Turismo and he is a car NUT.

You've misquoted him. What he actually said: "..alright, let's see how long it takes this 400 hp supercharged V8 to catch this volkswagen GTi in front of us, I say in less than 5 seconds." Which he did.

And he 'slung-shot' past the Tiburon, not the GTi. Also, it was so cheesy and poorly done it actually sounded pathetically unrehearsed.

Your precipitous judgement lends me to think you have an ulterior agenda to push.

My "ulterior agenda" is simply to mention how poorly done (and yes, rehearsed) this video really is.

Do not get me wrong, If I wanted an everyday cruiser to get me to work and events without worrying about a manual transmission in traffic, I would definitely go with an XKR. I love the XKR, I really do. I love the way it looks, I love the supercharger whine and I love British cars. The simple fact is though, its really not THAT fast and the video itself was not that good.

I guess how you define 'fast enough' is the crux. The Jag destroys most vehicles on the road. Still, it's not all about the speed but also soft ride, the stunning looks, the ultra comfortable interior, and of course the legend behind the name. It's one car that does boulevard cruiser as well as it does savage sports car. That must be why it comes rated number one for road trip vehicle of the year for 2008, no?

Blitz is right - you cant compare apple to pear - it should be apple to apple. They should be chasing m6/650 or sl500 or Audi rs4 instead of an economy semi sports car like GTI.

I am buying a 08 XKR anyways though. Just its look and confort worths x2 of 911s or m6s!!!
