Name one interviewer today who puts as much effort and research into every single interview as Nardwuar does. He might be a little wacky, but underneath the wackiness is a pure and heartfelt dedication to music and musical culture. Those he interviews who can see that in his questions and unique approach always show him respect, and those who can't get past his outward appearance unfortunately don't . Sonic youth did not see that here, as well as Blur for example.

Besides, remember Thurston Moore later on said he "recognized the genious of Nardwuar and the genius of the broken record" if you want to get literal. Sonic Youth were being sarcastic the entire interview. Besides, how can you compare this kind of "mean" to the Blur kind of mean?

I love that back-and-forth between Thurston and Nardwuar at 5:08. Thurston thought he knew as much about punk rock as Nardwuar but he was soon put in his place by that "1978 issue..." comment LOL!
