@TommyNockersx3- I am a lifetime memeber of SA so I have quite a knowledege base from which to speak. First the SA is not owned by anyone it is a Corp. There is no stock it is a non profit. There are safegards in place to help with the money issue namely two audits every year. There are procedures that must be followed. If you are willing to disclose city I will have someone look into it- sometimes there are bad apples- you, I or no one else at the SA wants this if true-blessings
The Salvation Army is a Christian Church-it has not waffled on its belief in a fundamental view. This I know may not be popular but this is not hypocritical as many people have become. It is simply doing what you say you believe. This will have objection from some and I would understand people who do not care to live this way not supporting. The only strange thing is it would seem you guys seem awful angry- be happy just don't donate- don't blow a gasket
@beekalmer My response was: Should you donate to the Salvation Army, ZJempTV says no???
You have just made my point, thank you. And the Catholic Charities will not let Gay couples adopt how do you rationalize all this away? How does that not have anything to do with the Catholic Church?
Please keep these s responses on the comments page because I will not be be responding to any more personal messages from you. This started as a public discourse and that is how I prefer to keep it.
Just for the reckord (and belive me if I hear a Christian attack homosexuals I get pretty fired up) no church I have heard of denies that homosexuality is biological.
BTW one of our founding Fathers Thomas Jefferson considered himself a Christian, but did not believe in the immaculate conception or that Jesus was the son of god. Would he be held up as an icon today if the tea party actually knew their history.
@beekalmer They are not homophobic in any way shape or form, they do not show any signs of fearing gays. As to prejudice or hatred (Which I'm pretty sure is what you meant), that is simply absurd, they carry out no actions that harm our homosexual brothers and sisters and they treat those in need equaly, food or shelter isn't given to heterosexuals over homosexuals. The salvation army, and vast majority of Chatholic (and for the most part Christian generaly) charaties are simply not homophobic.
The Salvation Army collects money and the money doesn't even leave the community like most other charities. Plus, if the Salvation Army wasn't doing what they said, it would not be in 123 countries and been around for 146 years. The Salvation Army does not discriminate in outreaches, on upon hiring, to protect themselves. If you were gay, you would not be able to be hired by another church anyway, so stop focusing threats.
@HappyCabbie I understand. I think that you should look more into what the Salvation Army does. I do encourage you to go to the nearest Salvation Army church service just once and see what is there for you.
@HappyCabbie As Americans, we've many rights and one of them is freedom of speech, which both you and I are exercising. However, it doesn't mean you have to. Harry Potter is being criticized by Catholics because it has wizardry. Does this mean you have to denounce it to the world? No. Just don't buy the movie. Simple.
@HaloMasterMind117 You can't be serious.. what does being gay have to do with children? That's like me saying "Oh you have heterosexual sex with women, think of the children" Plenty of gays and lesbians have to care for children. When ignorant individuals such as yourself watch over children, then I worry.
@HaloMasterMind117 Actually, many churches hire gay people now. There are even gay preachers. Also, just because a company or organization does good, doesn't mean we should ignore the bad. And I feel people *should* know where their money is going when they donate. I would be pissed if I found out that charity I donate money too supported killing people or denying basic human rights, wouldn't you?
The Salvation Army is a CHURCH! why should they be forced to give/extend benefits to anyone that is associated with an employee in a manner that is contrary to their moral and religious beliefs? What if a guy is married, AND has a girlfriend, should the SA be forced to give benefits to the girlfriend as well? rediculous!
In fact the SA has the right (as well they should) to fire any employee who gets involved in any immoral behavior, sexual or other.
@HappyCabbie Why should any organisation get government money? If society has a need for the social service they provide, then the government should fund and run that organisation based on secular rule of the democratically elected government. Like the FDA, board of education, etc. If you're tax money pays for it, you should be able to control it through your democratic rights.
@HappyCabbie I'll disagree with that from experience. If it's true, it's often at the cost of quality and security. Also, sometimes high operating costs aren't the main concern. I don't want public hospitals and schools for the government to make money, I want them so my fellow citizens are educated and healthy enough for me to enjoy their company.
I'm a capitalist, but I count social services as one of the things the government takes care of and I don't see a higher efficiency in Salvarmy.
@JonathanTheAlchemist Well, since YOU did'nt understand my joke, I can only assume that you are a product of government schools. These same government schools that require the teaching of sex-ed (which many teachers have taken a HANDS ON approach) and evolution, while at the same time have banned any references to God, EVEN IN A HISTORICAL CONTEXT! Teachers are instructed NOT to say "merry CHRISTmas", but "happy holidays" How rediculous!
Forced promiscuity? What, your dream is to be a pimp?
@rustyshadow7 -"These same government schools that require the teaching of sex-ed ..."- Got a problem? -"... and evolution ..."- So schools teach scientific facts. No shit Sherlock -"Forced promiscuity?"- Go back to the comment thread to understand what I said. -"... banned any references to God ..."- Bullshit, no such thing has happened. -"Well, since YOU did'nt understand my joke..."- If by "joke" you meant a "nonsensical, vague answer" then no, I didn't understand it.
@JonathanTheAlchemist If you think that it's ok to teach elementary kids to masterbate, then maybe it's because YOU did'nt have a daddy to teach you better. And to call the THEORY of evolution a FACT is an oxyMORON! If you think that people of faith have today, the SAME rights as they did 50 or even 40 yrs ago, you are sadly mistaken.
And to answer your initial question; I served this great country in the U.S.M.C. and defended the rights of all people, even with whom I disagree. So go for it.
-"If you think that it's ok to teach elementary kids to masterbate, then maybe it's because YOU did'nt have a daddy to teach you better."-
Dogshit, sex ed teachers don't teach people to jack off. I do have a father, and he's probably more righteous than you could understand. I learned how to jack off by myself, so your abstinence nonsense is what I wipe my ass with.
-"And to call the THEORY of evolution a FACT is an oxyMORON!"-
@JonathanTheAlchemist Dude, if you want to start your own PRIVATE org. with its own rules,(however stupid they may be) then go for it! I'll defend your right to do so.
@JonathanTheAlchemist BTW, there are MANY things about the SA that I disagree with, (having worked there a few yrs) things that would cause its founder 'William Booth' to, not only roll over in his grave, but make him go into high rotation! But again, they are a church/PRIVATE org. and thuss can do what they want, but are in GREAT need of reformation.
Hi I have commented on ZJemp dont donate to Salvation Army so look them plz.But what if we all went same sex partners.in 50 or 60 yrs human race be on its way out.If you was a farmer u wouldnt try breadin same sex cattle so why humans.
You say u use to be a Christian what sort Jovo Baptist Methodist, Born Again or some other flavour lol.
@HappyCabbie People dont read then post. If you note and if you have read ALL my other posts on zJemps site you will see I said IF I am not looking at a fraction what IF we all decided to do it. THEN what would happen. Its the same about laws of the land IF we all got shot guns an started killin then what its an extreme point. If you go to the extremes on things you can see if its right or wrong.A half truth is a full lie.
Could I ask why you didnt answer all my questions please?
@UNOMINER "If you go to the extremes on things you can see if its right or wrong."
Oh, that statement is just too tempting to let pass. You say to determine if something is wrong, we should look to its extreme. Well, let's take religion for example then, since your channel says you're a christian.
Based on the actions of religious extremists, we can then deduce that all religion is wrong and destructive to the world?
Well done. I couldn't have said it better myself.
But I am glad you mention religion. One thing I am not is religious.I am in a relationship. The Jovos like all the others are religious because if u leave then cut u off from ALL friends an family that believe.Basically to manipulate u into not leavin.Like Muslim extreamism killing Christians is guaranteein u a place in heaven so they think. But see what Quran says.
@HappyCabbie Sorry I didnt see your reply for this part of my question? You say u use to be a Christian what sort Jovo Baptist Methodist, Born Again or some other flavour lol.
Nor to the point I mentioned about if we all took same sex partners
Again, we are not all going to take same sex partners. The majority of the population is not attracted to the oppositie sex. The population is expanding not contracting
The Salvation Army helps everyone who asks gay, straight, alcoholic, drug addicts, homeless regardless of race, sex , religion and all that goes with it. We dont discriminate; being a Christian Orginization we believe in God and The Bible Gods Word that comes first and foremost, we love the sinner not the sin! It is possible to help someone Gay and not support Gay Marriage.
Salvation Army is necessary, but wow the people that work there are terrible. Some of this is a given, but noticing the choices they make on a day to day basis in how they interact with people, its flat out wrong. I rather sleep out in the cold and I have and I prefer it to dealing with Salvation Army.
Haha, I was ready to debate you expecting to hear some kind of an objection to his video, yet you agreed with him. Well, that was a nice surprise. Take care.
I haven't donated to the Salvation Army since I found out that they require the homeless they help to attend Christian services to get that help. Instead, I donate to shelters for battered women and children that don't bother to insist that people lie about something as personal as religion to get help.
@HappyCabbie fuck that zinnia piece of shit and anyone else that wants to trash an organization that does good in the world. here you are cosigning zinnias crap. thats what you're wrong about.
I destoyed his most recent video on this topic just yesterday. I see your video was made last year. So, he posted it again recently. Look at my comments on the video.
It may take some fishing , but look for the green thumb. It was a easy video to break down. Not denying the facts, but the approach in this video is hypocritical.
The problem with telling people not to donate to the Salvation Army, means you're telling people not to give usable clothing to the Salvation Army. The clothing goes to clothe some of the neediest people in the community. Salvation Army buildings are located in easy to get to places and there are lots of them. There isn't one charity on your list or ZJ's that will take used clothing and is available and easily accessible. Your hurting the poor, not helping the gays.
@charlesfloyb Doesn't the salvation army just sell those clothes at low prices? Wouldn't it be better to go to the homeless people and give them your old clothes and stuff in person? It would be more personal, and probably make you feel better.
Hi, just a quick note, I am somewhat confused. In your video you refer to ZJ as "He", when the video that I watched very clearly shows a person with a female gender presentation. Would you tell me what's up with that?
@maidenearth sure, watch ZJemptv's older videos. Particularly ones like, Ain't I a woman, well no. Also for teh lulz check out his video, Re: Gigantic Faggot." There have been many remixes of that one. He is a great person.
@Shahal1 I agree. Originally I intended to make this video to debunk him, but after looking at the situation I came to the conclusion that he was right
That's not the only reason I don't like the Sall Ann. I did a temp gig at one of their depots once, and 85% of what comes off their trucks goes right back to the landfill! Perfectly usable furniture, medical equipment, wheelchairs, crutches, etc. They only let a few bland, inoffensive books into their thrift stores along with a few samll items that almost no-one buys.
It's funny how Athiests bash Christians all the time, when My Church runs a food drive every weekend, always has donation boxes for a variety of different Charities, never turns away anyone.. Even have Gay support groups,We don't condone Homosexuality but we do help them through their problems. You can't say religion never helped anyone..
@HappyCabbie Yes Sir. We have a few Gay People. They have no more sin in their lives then We do. weather they like Men or not a sin is a sin is God's eyes.
In the end God loves us all the same, gay or straight. So the answer to your question is yes.
@creepycody That's nice. God may love us all the same (no he doesn't, according to your faith) but the Salvation Army does not. The Salvation Army preaches and teaches that homosexuals and homosexuality is to be ridiculed and shunned, and will go to extremes to deny homosexuals equal treatment.
No one is bashing Christians or Christianity in this case. Just the SA.
@creepycody WELP unfortunately, the offical stance of catholicism and christianity is that homosexuality is wrong and sinful and gays will go to hell, full stop. Your book says so. Now, I'm glad that many christians act like... yknow, decent humans towards gay folks, but you can't deny what the official stance is. I'm sure this causes many christian folks a lot of cognitive dissonance, but that's their/your burden to bear.
@moxiousch The Bible says being Gay is a sin, not that you will go to Hell. Unless of course the Gay Person isn't a believer then yes He will go to Hell, along with someone who is not gay. Now, if you are a believer and gay, you won' go to Hell.
No sin is bigger then any other. So your arguement is flawed.
@creepycody Oh! Well, that makes it all better then. I guess nigh-universal gay-hating and discrimination in Abrahamic religions aren't real things after all, since my argument was flawed and your specific church is alright with teh gays.
@creepycody Atheists rarely bashing on Christians. We bash on religion and on Christianity. I am happy to see that your Christian community is open, helping others and acting fairly. I have no doubt that a lot of Christians like you are making the world a better place. But I don't believe at all that fate is helping or God is helping in this mission. Too often religion and fate lead to disaster because it asks people to serve without thinking.
@tubetib Any video you go to on Youtube about God there is Athiests attacking Christians, it's not as rare as you think. Personally I do believe God is helping, but your opinion is your opinion, I won't argue it.
@creepycody Understand atheists aren't necessarily bashing your kind of new age christian. Even to this day atheists are ostracized from society in certain places. In some countries, just being atheist (or gay even) will get you killed. We're vocal not because of the new age christians holding food drives, we're vocal and critical because you guys vote. Even though you see christians as benign toward atheists, the lot of you decide for the lot of us how we're governed.
@creepycody Well, understand that atheists are starkly different from each other. Just as all atheists are different from each other, all christians are different from each other.
But the common reason people are upset at christians is because the majority of restrictive voters (e.g. banning gay marriage, cannabis, video games) are christian.
It's as unfair to say atheists are all christian bashers as it is to say all catholic priests are child molesters.
The Salvation Army has been helping me too. But the problem is that the Salvation Army is a Christian organization and this fact is corrupting there mission. They would better serve their mission if they were not polluted by Christian values. The Salvation Army abused people. They want to save the souls of people for the after life more than help people on earth. So I won't give to the Salvation Army. Do your own choice.
alright. you say the want to save souls more than help people on earth? Then why do we offer all of our aid without discrimination? If you are correct, when one of my lovely gay patrons and his partner come in for their monthly food assistance I should tell him that I can't help him unless he goes next door into the church and changes his lifestyle and gives his heart to Jesus...
..oh wait. we don't do that.
EVER.
Don't believe we help w/o discrimination, look up our mission statement
@HannahDaleBlog Yes, I believe they want to convert people more than anything. And yes the Salvation Army is discriminating gay people as some has expressed it here. The mission statement is this: "The Salvation Army exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, ..." Number core value "Salvation". This is why it is called the Salvation Army. People are always second to them. You should know better.
you failed to post the rest of the mission statement which sums up their work with the definitive statement of "WITHOUT DISCRIMINATION"
and Yes I think I do know better having worked for the Army for Several years and helping many people in the LGBT community. None of which I denied services to, or even asked to accept Jesus. If my primary goal was conversion then this would certainly not be the case. Your statement of "people are always second to them" is also very hurtful, since
@HannahDaleBlog our founder is best known for saying this: "While women weep as they do now, I'll fight,. While little children go hungry as they do now, I'll fight,. while men go to prison, in and out, in and out, as they do now, I'll fight. " - THE GENERAL
We are an organization full of compassionate people willing to help EVERYONE no matter what they themselves believe. Are we Christians? Yes. But does that mean we filter out who we help, or even treat those people differently? No way.
@HannahDaleBlog 'the definitive statement of "WITHOUT DISCRIMINATION"'. It seems that it is not always the case in practice. I hope you'll promote this attitude. "Your statement of "people are always second to them" is also very hurtful". It is as hurtful to read that the first goal of your statement mission is to help an imaginary friend. Want to help people? Work for a secular organization. God does not exists so it does not help anyone. I am just saying the truth.
I prefer to donate my time rather than the money I don't really have. That way they can know exactly what they're getting, that way if I'm not good enough then well I probably did the right thing by not giving them any money to begin with.
@GallusSapien In Canada, I don't think there are discriminating gay people. It depends, I guess, who's in charge. But they don't like smart people like the atheist I was, that I still am. They love Christian poppets and people believing without thinking. They like people that pay their rent without making trouble or ask question.
When I was living in the US we used to call it the "Starvation Army". I could say a lot about my experiences with them but there isn't room. I'll just say that I began to have real reservations the night I was stranded hitch hiking and was told I could stay at their hostel, PROVIDED I could pay. I couldn't and spent a very cold and uncomfortable night. I didn't know it at the time but I could have stayed in the local police station for nothing.
Good point but there are still other charity's we can donate to, Red Cross. The only reason these ppl are able to ride on a high horse of moral superiorority is because non-christians like me have been contributing our time and money that have made there activity's effective. Ive been volunteering with the Slavation Army in Australia but now I wont just in case Im helping them further some basterdisation of morality or in case Im actually making Christians look caring even tho Im not one.
also why i can't stand the salvation army is the way they treat the alcoholics and ex drug users the have working in their thrift stores , the are treated like slaves , to force religion down sick peoples throats while you have them slave for you is sick making , the sell overpriced crap to the poor , but if you where ever in one of the thrift stores when did you ever seen anything of value , that is all skimmed off the top . THIS IS THE TRUTH
what he is saying is the truth , the salvation army is the biggest rip off ever , anti gay, but what burns me up is really how little they do with the billions upon billions of dollars the receive every year , most of it goes to the members of the salvation army and not the poor , if you move up the ranks of the army they live very very well , home are purchased for them , believe me , the army is great at pr but not at what they claim to do for others , THIS IS THE TRUTH , PEACE
1. It's so sad that you leave your church. 2.Catholich church NEVER going to accepts homosexuality as a way of life. 3.You are an christian ignorant. If Catholic church change mind then stops being catholic. If you wait for this so better find some gey church. 4.Homosexuality it's not a biological. So pedophile is a biological, zoophilia,or necrophilia as well?If not,so what the difference?!!! THIS IS PSYHOLOGICAL AND SPIRITUAL PROBLEM AT THE BEGNNINGS AND FREE WILL AT THE END(& THIS IS A SIN)
@boanerge1000 when your priests can learn to keep it in their pants then maybe someone will take your Jesus cracker religion seriously in the 21st century.
@HappyCabbie What you mean?Do you mean that priests of Jesus Christ have to be like an angel on aerth then...bla bla bla.Ger real.By the way,can you be no-siner :DDD,Is here even one no-siner.How many of priests have a problem with this? What percentage? And...(!) how many have to be without sin to make you believe i Jesus.Grow up.Only kids believes in saint priest, I believe in holyness of God. That is the difference between me &you.I don't to be better or no-siner to be loved by Him (lucky).
According to Archbishop Silvano Maria Tomasi in September 2009, the Holy See stated "We know now that in the last 50 years somewhere between 1.5% and 5% of the Catholic clergy has been involved in sexual abuse cases. So now we need to do math. According to a 2005 report there are 406,411 catholic priests worldwide. Do you have a calculator or do you need help?
By the way I do understand priests are not perfect I just wish they wouldn't fuck children.
@HappyCabbie I see that we do not uderstand eachother. The all drama in the world is caused by phedofiles in Holy Church?Listen,I don't want to push you or something but until you don't understand you own facility to the badest horrible thinks than you realy can do, than you will still build your revulsion to every siners. The problem is that we all need love, and real one.You have not an idea how sorry I am for the victim and those priests. But Church is holy not by the holyness of men thank God.
@HappyCabbie Here on Yuotube there isin't a place to make a namelessly disscusion Holy Church. It is too serious and gentle theme for this place. It's not a hyde park talk.I just wrote my opinion, my point of view.2Cor4,7:"But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.<- they knew safes or strongrooms in those times. So why st.Paul wrote that?A:we are the poor dirty earth uvessels that keep Treasure inside.God love not reprove.
@HappyCabbie ...not sure HOW the catholic church is being compared to the Salvation Army....we're pretty darn different. Belief wise : We don't have communion. We don't believe Mary is pretty much a co-God. We don't pray to saints. We don't believe in transubstantiation (that the body and blood of christ is ACTUALLY his blood and body when you actually have communion) We don't believe that baptism is necessary to go to heaven, etc. etc. etc.
...but religion aside, how we RUN the salvation army is also very different to how the Catholic Church runs theirs. The history of the catholic church is that of decadence and abuse of money and power. In the salvation army, our "priests" live on a very tiny income. They don't own their own home, or car...their only real possessions are the clothes on their back. You get moved around wherever and whenever needed. Each church is audited every year. We spend money on our communities not ourselves.
Mmmm...so the Salvation Army stands by it's beliefs & it's wrong? The Salvation Army is a great organization--yes christian.. but still a great charity! They do many things to help many people. My parents were Salvation Army Officers for 40 years & still to this day faithfully serve the Lord. It always strikes me as odd that the gay community wants tolerance but doesn't want to extend that courtesy to others. The Salvation Army will help anyone at anytime.
@simmons7 well like I said this was a very hard video to make. Originally I wanted to refute ZJ's claims but I was not able to do so. As you know I myself benefited from the Salvation Army so this is why I wanted so much to defend them. I just could not figure out a way to do so in this case.
@HappyCabbie I think your video is well thought out & put together well. On the basis that the Salvation Army believes that homosexuality is wrong, I will agree with you that you can't refute ZJ's claim, that is the basis of his entire video. But The Salvation Army is entitled to it's beliefs & they are promoting the values they believe in. It's a great church & does so many wonderful things for so many people--I'm glad they could help you! We need to live & let live in the world today.
@simmons7 They are more than welcome to their beliefs, however should my tax dollars go to an organization that discriminates. That is the question ZJ raised.
@HappyCabbie Your absolutely right, you don't have to donate any money to them--your choice. But The Salvation Army does not discriminate--they are abiding by all laws that the goverment has set forth. They give benefits to domestic partners, they do not discriminate who they employ,by race, religion or sexual orientation. They do however practice there christian beliefs, which you stated they are entitled to.They only money the Salvation Army runs is what is donated to them, still a great church!
@simmons7 well then you now have the evidence on your side. See I was completely unaware that the Salvation Army received no tax dollars at all. See when I read the New York Times and Christianity today they misreported the facts and said that they did. Thanks 4 clearing this up. It also appears that the statements made by the actual leaders of the Salvation army was also in error. They testified before the New York City Council that they did discriminate. I should have done more research
@HappyCabbie I would like to see that article, I will try & research myself. The Salvation Army does abide by all laws now.I know they were opposed to giving benefits at one time--which I think is/was wrong. But they abide by the laws now.No one is perfect & no church is perfect. Here's where it gets complicated,The Salvation Army the church is run soley on donations. Some of there social service programs are funded by the government funds ie; tax dollars, but there are laws in place that ..........
@simmons7 we are not talking about the church services we are talking about government funded programs like soup kitchens. When you accept tax dollars you should not be allowed to discriminate. Furthermore all the links are in the video description where they always were.
@HappyCabbie Well---again I say they don't discriminate. As I wrote in my other post there are laws now that monitor the government funds so that they are used only for the social programs & not to spread the Salvation Army gospel.Thank you for pointing out the links in the video description--no ones perfect--except Christ--& I am far from being him! Still a great organization that doesn't discriminate & helps millions & millions of people every year!
@HappyCabbie .......my other post was to long had to finish here--lol,,,,,,,,those tax dollars are monitored & restricted for soley social service programs & not promoting the church or religion of the Salvation Army. I'm subscribing to your channel. I really enjoyed the video & your civil responses--that's a hard thing to find today! So many people want to argue & curse up a storm, thanx for the breath of fresh air. Keep doing what your doing I really enjoyed this.
@simmons7 as far as "no tax dollars being used to promote church or religion take some time to google Lown v. The Salvation Army, that was a case decided in 2010 where they were wanting social workers to to identify their church affiliation, the frequency of their church attendance, and to sign an endorsement of The Salvation Army’s mission to “preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ."
@HappyCabbie The Salvation Army is being monitored to make sure government funds aren't being used to promote the gospel. This is exactly what I posted before. The reason the suit came about was becasue of a reorganization the SA wanted to do--didn't work out-so we have what we have. There is a great article by David Waters in the Washington Post that might raise your eyebrows a little bit by what the federal & state laws do permit--very interesting!
@HappyCabbie Tax dollars are now monitored as I said in my previous post--because of this suit.Like I said before no one is perfect, that includes the SA. They do not discriminate now--they abide by the laws the government has set. But by some peoples standard that is not enough. Maybe we should crucify them on a cross??? Mmmmm.....
@simmons7 So the good news is for the past 4 months the Salvation Army has not misused tax dollars, the very same tax dollars you first denied they even took. Is that the point you are wanting to make here?
@HappyCabbie Actually if you really dive into that case, the SA agreed to a settlement & I even found out some suprising things!!--In the same ruling, the judge dismissed claims that The Salvation Army and government agencies had engaged in impermissible employment discrimination when it required employees in the government-funded programs to disclose their religious beliefs and practices and to pursue the evangelical Christian mission of The Salvation Army. That ruling can be appealed.
If you were a homeless teenage gay that means they wouldn't help you. Seems to me they only want to help those that have a good chance of being converted to Christianity. Doesn't the bible say love your enemy or something ? Even if they packed up shop there are other charities who will fill the void and the SA won't exist eventually... Good plan the SA has here... Fuck themselves into a hole basically
@dantheman0798879 I'm afraid you don't understand. We help people regardless of their lifestyle. If you're going to comment please have a full understanding first.
...So should I tell the Salvation Army homeless shelter in my town of this news? My mom runs it...and she has three openly gay men and one openly gay woman there..she doesn't seem to even consider kicking them out.
Why would a person who had different belief system want to work for the SA. The purpose to the core is the Salvation of souls hence the name-its cool if you don't likeit there's a whole lot don't. The SA has set out doing what they feel directed to do which is to reach people for God with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You don't have to believe to receive no one is forced but the SA as well as myself do hold that sex outside of marriage is a sin all sin separates from God -good advice don't sin
The SA tries to meet both physical and spiritual needs. They help all without exclusion and hope that some will come to faith in Christ. The thing to remember is they are not trying to be a hypocrite. Would you hire Adolph Hitler to be a staffer for a US Senator probably not-why he is oposed to your belief system. I would not like to be a staffer for the nazi party why it goes against my grain. For some reason we in the US try to shove ourselves into workplaces that are not suited for us
I was born into the SA and probably can offer more insight than most. The SA is a Christian Church movement who have stayed true to their belief that there is such a thing as sin and as such we need a Savior this is not to popular or politically correct in theses days and times but this is what the SA sets about to say and help with. The founder discovered that telling people they were living wrongly( sinful) while ignoring physical needs that he saw was hypocrasy
HappyCabbie, in light of your past experience, I really appreciate your honesty here. That's what's called intellectual honesty!
To those below who support the SA, nobody said they don't help people, just that discriminate, and that they deny benefits domestic partners. Reallocating charity donations to any other charity is a valid option. The SA does not have a monopoly on helping the homeless.
the salvation army has many projects that they run throughout the year
around this time they have the christmas appeal which is where the money from the bell ringers and donations go to
this money goes towards shelters for the homeless on christmas day and throughout the christmas period, it enables many unfortunate people to have a christmas dinner and not to be alone
it is a christian charity and church and i suggest to research it yourself and not look at a onesided argument
Not all SA corps are alike. We make no judgment of anyone. We understand homosexuality is a biological tendency with which some people are born. Christ said nothing about it. Paul wrote about what Mosaic law and attitudes said as a lead-in, then dropped a shoe, saying, "who are you to judge?" So we help anyone who needs help, and the only questions asked are to verify they need help. Many others do too.
I am a member of the Salvation Army. First and foremost we would never deny services to anyone based on sexuality, race or religion. The conflict is in an administrative issue, Like all mainstream churches we reject homosexuality as legitimate, but we extend God's grace to those who are. Asking an organization to change it's core values because the political winds are blowing a certain way is suicide. If this one issue is a dealbreaker for people in regards to supporting us thats fine.
"Political winds are blowing a certain way"? So, if this was the 50's, we should support a charity that discriminates against African Americans because...well...they do good? Excuse me for missing the logic here. A charity can do great work without discriminating, it's unnessecary and bigoted, and it seems only decent that people know the full story before they decide to donate their time or money.
@MQSmith81, that logic doesn't really add up to me. First, to consider homosexuality as something that isn't legitiment is to deny a scientific fact. Furthermore it is silly to loose out on donations to help people because the administration wants homosexuals to go away.
If you are willing to disclose city I will have someone look into it- sometimes there are bad apples- you, I or no one else at the SA wants this if true-blessings

the rumors around my town is that the person that owns the local Salvation Army

TommyNockersx3 2 months ago
The Salvation Army is a Christian Church-it has not waffled on its belief in a fundamental view. This I know may not be popular but this is not hypocritical as many people have become. It is simply doing what you say you believe. This will have objection from some and I would understand people who do not care to live this way not supporting. The only strange thing is it would seem you guys seem awful angry- be happy just don't donate- don't blow a gasket

This is a comment that Llywellyn92 sent me as a PM but it belongs here:
Re: Reply to your comment on: Should you donate to the Salvation Army, ZJempTV says no???
Whats wrong with their hiring policies? if they don't want to hire homosexuals then ohwell, freedom isn't a one way street.
And yes the Catholic Church is doing that, but that has nothing to do with Catholic charities.
beekalmer 4 months ago
@beekalmer My response was: Should you donate to the Salvation Army, ZJempTV says no???
You have just made my point, thank you. And the Catholic Charities will not let Gay couples adopt how do you rationalize all this away? How does that not have anything to do with the Catholic Church?
Please keep these s responses on the comments page because I will not be be responding to any more personal messages from you. This started as a public discourse and that is how I prefer to keep it.
beekalmer 4 months ago
Just for the reckord (and belive me if I hear a Christian attack homosexuals I get pretty fired up) no church I have heard of denies that homosexuality is biological.

BTW one of our founding Fathers Thomas Jefferson considered himself a Christian, but did not believe in the immaculate conception or that Jesus was the son of god. Would he be held up as an icon today if the tea party actually knew their history.

The Salvation Army and Catholic Charities are examples of homophobic organizations.
beekalmer 6 months ago

HaloMasterMind117 9 months ago
@HaloMasterMind117 So they have the right to discriminate against an employee because of who they are bumping fuzz with at home?
HappyCabbie 9 months ago
@HappyCabbie Anybody can hire who they want to hire, and personally, would you want someone like that around children?
HaloMasterMind117 9 months ago
@HaloMasterMind117 We are not talking about pedophiles, we are talking about homosexuals
HappyCabbie 9 months ago
@HappyCabbie I understand. I think that you should look more into what the Salvation Army does. I do encourage you to go to the nearest Salvation Army church service just once and see what is there for you.
HaloMasterMind117 9 months ago
@HappyCabbie Hey! why should you discriminate against pedophiles, they're people too. Who are you to judge? lol
rustyshadow7 9 months ago
@HappyCabbie As Americans, we've many rights and one of them is freedom of speech, which both you and I are exercising. However, it doesn't mean you have to. Harry Potter is being criticized by Catholics because it has wizardry. Does this mean you have to denounce it to the world? No. Just don't buy the movie. Simple.
HaloMasterMind117 9 months ago
@HaloMasterMind117 You can't be serious.. what does being gay have to do with children? That's like me saying "Oh you have heterosexual sex with women, think of the children" Plenty of gays and lesbians have to care for children. When ignorant individuals such as yourself watch over children, then I worry.
CenaxKikia 9 months ago
@HaloMasterMind117 Wow at your comment.
volacious 9 months ago
@HaloMasterMind117 Actually, many churches hire gay people now. There are even gay preachers. Also, just because a company or organization does good, doesn't mean we should ignore the bad. And I feel people *should* know where their money is going when they donate. I would be pissed if I found out that charity I donate money too supported killing people or denying basic human rights, wouldn't you?

The Salvation Army is a CHURCH! why should they be forced to give/extend benefits to anyone that is associated with an employee in a manner that is contrary to their moral and religious beliefs? What if a guy is married, AND has a girlfriend, should the SA be forced to give benefits to the girlfriend as well? rediculous!
In fact the SA has the right (as well they should) to fire any employee who gets involved in any immoral behavior, sexual or other.
rustyshadow7 11 months ago
@rustyshadow7 Then they should not receive government money then.
HappyCabbie 11 months ago
@HappyCabbie I agree, and neither should the National Endowment for the (so-called) Arts, or Planned Parenthood.
rustyshadow7 11 months ago
@HappyCabbie Why should any organisation get government money? If society has a need for the social service they provide, then the government should fund and run that organisation based on secular rule of the democratically elected government. Like the FDA, board of education, etc. If you're tax money pays for it, you should be able to control it through your democratic rights.
hornetpalooza 10 months ago
@hornetpalooza because often times the government has a higher opperating cost than a private organization would.
HappyCabbie 10 months ago

What, your dream is to be a pimp?
rustyshadow7 10 months ago
JonathanTheAlchemist 10 months ago
@JonathanTheAlchemist If you think that it's ok to teach elementary kids to masterbate, then maybe it's because YOU did'nt have a daddy to teach you better. And to call the THEORY of evolution a FACT is an oxyMORON! If you think that people of faith have today, the SAME rights as they did 50 or even 40 yrs ago, you are sadly mistaken.
And to answer your initial question; I served this great country in the U.S.M.C. and defended the rights of all people, even with whom I disagree. So go for it.
rustyshadow7 10 months ago
@rustyshadow7
-"And to call the THEORY of evolution a FACT is an oxyMORON!"-
Wrong as usual, go read about evolution.
JonathanTheAlchemist 10 months ago
@JonathanTheAlchemist
-"... you are sadly mistaken ..."-
How so? People can still pray before a test, you just can't have teachers force their religion unto their students.
-"So go for it."-
I don't understand your answer. What does your millitary service have to do with this thread?
JonathanTheAlchemist 10 months ago

Oh, that statement is just too tempting to let pass. You say to determine if something is wrong, we should look to its extreme. Well, let's take religion for example then, since your channel says you're a christian.
Based on the actions of religious extremists, we can then deduce that all religion is wrong and destructive to the world?
Well done. I couldn't have said it better myself.

It's funny how Athiests bash Christians all the time, when My Church runs a food drive every weekend, always has donation boxes for a variety of different Charities, never turns away anyone.. Even have Gay support groups,We don't condone Homosexuality but we do help them through their problems. You can't say religion never helped anyone..
creepycody 1 year ago
@creepycody would your church welcome someone who is gay and let them join their church?
HappyCabbie 1 year ago
@HappyCabbie Yes Sir. We have a few Gay People. They have no more sin in their lives then We do. weather they like Men or not a sin is a sin is God's eyes.
In the end God loves us all the same, gay or straight. So the answer to your question is yes.
creepycody 1 year ago
@creepycody I sure wish the Salvation Army would do the same
HappyCabbie 1 year ago
@creepycody That's nice. God may love us all the same (no he doesn't, according to your faith) but the Salvation Army does not. The Salvation Army preaches and teaches that homosexuals and homosexuality is to be ridiculed and shunned, and will go to extremes to deny homosexuals equal treatment.
No one is bashing Christians or Christianity in this case. Just the SA.
HipRockInc 1 year ago
@creepycody WELP unfortunately, the offical stance of catholicism and christianity is that homosexuality is wrong and sinful and gays will go to hell, full stop. Your book says so. Now, I'm glad that many christians act like... yknow, decent humans towards gay folks, but you can't deny what the official stance is. I'm sure this causes many christian folks a lot of cognitive dissonance, but that's their/your burden to bear.
moxiousch 1 year ago
@moxiousch The Bible says being Gay is a sin, not that you will go to Hell. Unless of course the Gay Person isn't a believer then yes He will go to Hell, along with someone who is not gay. Now, if you are a believer and gay, you won' go to Hell.
No sin is bigger then any other. So your arguement is flawed.
creepycody 1 year ago
@creepycody Oh! Well, that makes it all better then. I guess nigh-universal gay-hating and discrimination in Abrahamic religions aren't real things after all, since my argument was flawed and your specific church is alright with teh gays.
moxiousch 1 year ago
@creepycody Atheists rarely bashing on Christians. We bash on religion and on Christianity. I am happy to see that your Christian community is open, helping others and acting fairly. I have no doubt that a lot of Christians like you are making the world a better place. But I don't believe at all that fate is helping or God is helping in this mission. Too often religion and fate lead to disaster because it asks people to serve without thinking.

@creepycody I never saw that on youtube.
tubetib 1 year ago
@creepycody Understand atheists aren't necessarily bashing your kind of new age christian. Even to this day atheists are ostracized from society in certain places. In some countries, just being atheist (or gay even) will get you killed. We're vocal not because of the new age christians holding food drives, we're vocal and critical because you guys vote. Even though you see christians as benign toward atheists, the lot of you decide for the lot of us how we're governed.
TheJacolyte 1 year ago
@TheJacolyte Well when an athiest calls me spineless and stupid because of what I believe,I call that bashing.
creepycody 1 year ago
@creepycody Well, understand that atheists are starkly different from each other. Just as all atheists are different from each other, all christians are different from each other.
But the common reason people are upset at christians is because the majority of restrictive voters (e.g. banning gay marriage, cannabis, video games) are christian.
It's as unfair to say atheists are all christian bashers as it is to say all catholic priests are child molesters.
TheJacolyte 1 year ago
@creepycody you cant say religion never helped anyone, but you you also cant say religion never hurt anyone.

You should know better.
tubetib 1 year ago
@tubetib
you failed to post the rest of the mission statement which sums up their work with the definitive statement of "WITHOUT DISCRIMINATION"
and Yes I think I do know better having worked for the Army for Several years and helping many people in the LGBT community.

I am just saying the truth.

what he is saying is the truth , the salvation army is the biggest rip off ever , anti gay, but what burns me up is really how little they do with the billions upon billions of dollars the receive every year , most of it goes to the members of the salvation army and not the poor , if you move up the ranks of the army they live very very well , home are purchased for them , believe me , the army is great at pr but not at what they claim to do for others , THIS IS THE TRUTH , PEACE

HappyCabbie 1 year ago
@HappyCabbie What you mean?Do you mean that priests of Jesus Christ have to be like an angel on aerth then...bla bla bla.Ger real.By the way,can you be no-siner :DDD,Is here even one no-siner.How many of priests have a problem with this? What percentage? And...(!) how many have to be without sin to make you believe i Jesus.Grow up.Only kids believes in saint priest, I believe in holyness of God. That is the difference between me &you.I don't to be better or no-siner to be loved by Him (lucky).
boanerge1000 1 year ago
@boanerge1000 isn't google fun

So why st.Paul wrote that?A:we are the poor dirty earth uvessels that keep Treasure inside.God love not reprove.
boanerge1000 1 year ago
@HappyCabbie ...not sure HOW the catholic church is being compared to the Salvation Army....we're pretty darn different. Belief wise : We don't have communion. We don't believe Mary is pretty much a co-God. We don't pray to saints. We don't believe in transubstantiation (that the body and blood of christ is ACTUALLY his blood and body when you actually have communion) We don't believe that baptism is necessary to go to heaven, etc. etc. etc.
HannahDaleBlog 1 year ago
...but religion aside, how we RUN the salvation army is also very different to how the Catholic Church runs theirs.
HannahDaleBlog 1 year ago
Mmmm...so the Salvation Army stands by it's beliefs & it's wrong? The Salvation Army is a great organization--yes christian.. but still a great charity! They do many things to help many people. My parents were Salvation Army Officers for 40 years & still to this day faithfully serve the Lord. It always strikes me as odd that the gay community wants tolerance but doesn't want to extend that courtesy to others. The Salvation Army will help anyone at anytime.
simmons7 1 year ago
@simmons7 well like I said this was a very hard video to make. Originally I wanted to refute ZJ's claims but I was not able to do so. As you know I myself benefited from the Salvation Army so this is why I wanted so much to defend them. I just could not figure out a way to do so in this case.
HappyCabbie 1 year ago
@HappyCabbie I think your video is well thought out & put together well. On the basis that the Salvation Army believes that homosexuality is wrong, I will agree with you that you can't refute ZJ's claim, that is the basis of his entire video. But The Salvation Army is entitled to it's beliefs & they are promoting the values they believe in. It's a great church & does so many wonderful things for so many people--I'm glad they could help you! We need to live & let live in the world today.
simmons7 1 year ago
@simmons7 They are more than welcome to their beliefs, however should my tax dollars go to an organization that discriminates. That is the question ZJ raised.
HappyCabbie 1 year ago
@HappyCabbie Your absolutely right, you don't have to donate any money to them--your choice. But The Salvation Army does not discriminate--they are abiding by all laws that the goverment has set forth. They give benefits to domestic partners, they do not discriminate who they employ,by race, religion or sexual orientation. They do however practice there christian beliefs, which you stated they are entitled to.They only money the Salvation Army runs is what is donated to them, still a great church!
simmons7 1 year ago
@simmons7 well then you now have the evidence on your side. See I was completely unaware that the Salvation Army received no tax dollars at all. See when I read the New York Times and Christianity today they misreported the facts and said that they did. Thanks 4 clearing this up. It also appears that the statements made by the actual leaders of the Salvation army was also in error. They testified before the New York City Council that they did discriminate. I should have done more research
HappyCabbie 1 year ago
@HappyCabbie I would like to see that article, I will try & research myself. The Salvation Army does abide by all laws now.I know they were opposed to giving benefits at one time--which I think is/was wrong. But they abide by the laws now.No one is perfect & no church is perfect. Here's where it gets complicated,The Salvation Army the church is run soley on donations. Some of there social service programs are funded by the government funds ie; tax dollars, but there are laws in place that ..........
simmons7 1 year ago
@simmons7 we are not talking about the church services we are talking about government funded programs like soup kitchens. When you accept tax dollars you should not be allowed to discriminate. Furthermore all the links are in the video description where they always were.
HappyCabbie 1 year ago
@HappyCabbie Well---again I say they don't discriminate. As I wrote in my other post there are laws now that monitor the government funds so that they are used only for the social programs & not to spread the Salvation Army gospel.Thank you for pointing out the links in the video description--no ones perfect--except Christ--& I am far from being him! Still a great organization that doesn't discriminate & helps millions & millions of people every year!
simmons7 1 year ago
@HappyCabbie .......my other post was to long had to finish here--lol,,,,,,,,those tax dollars are monitored & restricted for soley social service programs & not promoting the church or religion of the Salvation Army. I'm subscribing to your channel. I really enjoyed the video & your civil responses--that's a hard thing to find today! So many people want to argue & curse up a storm, thanx for the breath of fresh air. Keep doing what your doing I really enjoyed this.
simmons7 1 year ago
@simmons7 as far as "no tax dollars being used to promote church or religion take some time to google Lown v. The Salvation Army, that was a case decided in 2010 where they were wanting social workers to to identify their church affiliation, the frequency of their church attendance, and to sign an endorsement of The Salvation Army’s mission to “preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ."
HappyCabbie 1 year ago
@HappyCabbie The Salvation Army is being monitored to make sure government funds aren't being used to promote the gospel. This is exactly what I posted before. The reason the suit came about was becasue of a reorganization the SA wanted to do--didn't work out-so we have what we have. There is a great article by David Waters in the Washington Post that might raise your eyebrows a little bit by what the federal & state laws do permit--very interesting!
simmons7 1 year ago
@HappyCabbie Tax dollars are now monitored as I said in my previous post--because of this suit.Like I said before no one is perfect, that includes the SA. They do not discriminate now--they abide by the laws the government has set. But by some peoples standard that is not enough. Maybe we should crucify them on a cross??? Mmmmm.....
simmons7 1 year ago
@simmons7 So the good news is for the past 4 months the Salvation Army has not misused tax dollars, the very same tax dollars you first denied they even took. Is that the point you are wanting to make here?
HappyCabbie 1 year ago
@HappyCabbie Actually if you really dive into that case, the SA agreed to a settlement & I even found out some suprising things!!--In the same ruling, the judge dismissed claims that The Salvation Army and government agencies had engaged in impermissible employment discrimination when it required employees in the government-funded programs to disclose their religious beliefs and practices and to pursue the evangelical Christian mission of The Salvation Army. That ruling can be appealed.
simmons7 1 year ago
@simmons7 so why is it that it takes a lawsuit for the salvation army to not discriminate? Shouldn't they do that on their own?
HappyCabbie 1 year ago
Yeah, ZJ dosen't really leave holes. Great guy though, very smart.

Fuck themselves into a hole basically

...So should I tell the Salvation Army homeless shelter in my town of this news? My mom runs it...and she has three openly gay men and one openly gay woman there..she doesn't seem to even consider kicking them out.

Why would a person who had different belief system want to work for the SA. The purpose to the core is the Salvation of souls hence the name-its cool if you don't likeit there's a whole lot don't. The SA has set out doing what they feel directed to do which is to reach people for God with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You don't have to believe to receive no one is forced but the SA as well as myself do hold that sex outside of marriage is a sin all sin separates from God -good advice don't sin
How4gospel 2 years ago
@How4gospel, that is horrible advice.
hoboboxerjoe 1 year ago
The SA tries to meet both physical and spiritual needs. They help all without exclusion and hope that some will come to faith in Christ. The thing to remember is they are not trying to be a hypocrite. Would you hire Adolph Hitler to be a staffer for a US Senator probably not-why he is oposed to your belief system. I would not like to be a staffer for the nazi party why it goes against my grain. For some reason we in the US try to shove ourselves into workplaces that are not suited for us
How4gospel 2 years ago
I was born into the SA and probably can offer more insight than most. The SA is a Christian Church movement who have stayed true to their belief that there is such a thing as sin and as such we need a Savior this is not to popular or politically correct in theses days and times but this is what the SA sets about to say and help with. The founder discovered that telling people they were living wrongly( sinful) while ignoring physical needs that he saw was hypocrasy
How4gospel 2 years ago
HappyCabbie, in light of your past experience, I really appreciate your honesty here. That's what's called intellectual honesty!
To those below who support the SA, nobody said they don't help people, just that discriminate, and that they deny benefits domestic partners. Reallocating charity donations to any other charity is a valid option. The SA does not have a monopoly on helping the homeless.
infideluxe 2 years ago
the salvation army has many projects that they run throughout the year
around this time they have the christmas appeal which is where the money from the bell ringers and donations go to
this money goes towards shelters for the homeless on christmas day and throughout the christmas period, it enables many unfortunate people to have a christmas dinner and not to be alone
it is a christian charity and church and i suggest to research it yourself and not look at a onesided argument

See the You Tube video Shepherd on the Fence.

MQSmith81 2 years ago
Thanks for you input
HappyCabbie 2 years ago
"Political winds are blowing a certain way"? So, if this was the 50's, we should support a charity that discriminates against African Americans because...well...they do good? Excuse me for missing the logic here. A charity can do great work without discriminating, it's unnessecary and bigoted, and it seems only decent that people know the full story before they decide to donate their time or money.
Caelstraz 2 years ago
@MQSmith81, that logic doesn't really add up to me. First, to consider homosexuality as something that isn't legitiment is to deny a scientific fact. Furthermore it is silly to loose out on donations to help people because the administration wants homosexuals to go away.
