This is a great clip... You know a little off the topic, I know why there's a difference -- it's obvious but, I just got to say that looking at wild lions compared to the ones in the zoo shows a huge difference. It's amazing to see how much stronger and fit a lion is in the wild than the ones in the zoo. I mean the comparison would be -- David Banner and the Incredible Hulk.

Interesting fact....males with darker manes are favored more by females, so even if the really blonde male won...there's a chance the females of the pride would ignore him.

They've done it with birds. I think it was barn swallows. Males with more brown got more females, so they dyed some lighter males brown with markers, and watched what happened.

The dyed males started mating more.

We watched it on a documentary in Ecology class.

So yeah, it would work. :)

I saw something similar on Nat Geo. They Cut out a few eyes out of a peacocks tail and he got alot fewer females after that. Thats what you call sexual selection my friend - natural eugenics.
