  • I'm just finishing series on this topic.

  • An entire sermon of hyperbole.

  • Love it!!! I am planning on visiting the church this summer of 2011.

  • @ono4070: Enjoy!!!

  • I met D.J. Ward when I was a young boy in Rescue California at a Sovereign Grace retreat that I attended with my parents for several years. The Lord is now doing a work in my life and I find myself listening to sermons online to be fulfilled with His word throughout the week. After running across this video I find myself saddened to hear of Mr. Ward's passing, but at the same time praising The Lord that he is home! God bless you all.

  • One memory I have is myself walking through the yard of Rescue Baptist church with several other boys around my age (6 years old, give or take), and Mr. Ward walking with us. He taught us that Jehovah was the Hebrew word for Lord. As adults, this is common knowledge, however that was the 1st time I ever heard that and have remembered it ever since and this memory is recalled nearly anytime I hear the word Jehovah.

  • Were it not that God had chosen some...heaven would have none.

    -Elder D.J. Ward

I wish I could hear preaching like this where I live...but thanks to the internets I can

  • @dollargoat: There are many places like that around the world. Very sad. I live in a big city and it is difficult to find a church truly faithful to the Word of God.

  • Amen!

  • Why would hell be, if we could actually as dead in sin people "choose" to be alive? everyone would "choose" to be alive so no one would die. but thats not how it is, god sent his son to die on the cross for the elect! For those who had been given to jesus by god before the foundations of the world and even time were created.

  • 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

God is longsuffering to "us-ward," by which he means the elect. The second coming of Christ has not happened yet because God is longsuffering to "us-ward," not willing that any should perish. There is no variableness with God (Ja. 1:17).

  • "does water decide to be wet?"

..."do babies DECIDE to grow up?" as he discusses the functions and order of God's design. Satan's vainly damned attempt at counterfeit, is apparent. El Gibor, The Ancient of Days, He Who Sits on the everlasting throne.

The Wrath of the Lamb is upon the inhabitants of the earth.

    Watch. Pray.

  • Ask yourself this.. How would God's grace and mercy be present if some were not CHOSEN to fall?

You referenced Romans 11, but you skipped over Romans 9.

Romans 9:22-23 "What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory..."

    Answer carefully...

  • To those who say that "God is not willing that any should perish" that doesn't mean every single person. The verse is found in 2 Peter 3:9. People don't often quote the whole verse. It says "God is not slack concerning his promise (as some men count slackness) but is longsuffering to usward not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." He is not willing that any of "us" perish. Who is us? Those that have obtained like precious faith. Or in other words, the church.

  • Let us pray fervently that God raises up more men like Brother Ward, to the glory of His magnificent grace.

  • Awesome message.

  • Praise God for His marvellous salvation. Thank you for such a beautiful message on Gods grace. I enjoy listening to every message and will say some awesome preaching. No one can preach like reform preachers or i should say calvinist . Most people in the world havenot a clue of good preaching and teaching. I PRAISE THE LORD for opening my eyes to truth after fifty five years being under arminian preaching. Thank YOU GOD for your GRACE.

  • If Jehovah goes after ya, He's comin' back with ya!

  • good preaching!

    ----STRAIGHT UP TRUTH!

    "Do flowers decide to bloom?"

"Does water decide to be wet?"

  • This is so good I just had to hear it again! :) I shared it too. :) God bless!

  • That was absolutely amazing! Awesome! Praise God for preachers like him!

  • we miss you so much elder. I'm so blessed to have been brought up under you. I've learned so much. It's just not the same without you. See you again some day.

[we believe, we preach, we teach, The God of The Bible].

  • My former Pastor at the Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Oak Ridge Tennessee...when I was a little 'ol college student!!!

Praise God I got to see him a couple of times back in the '90s at the John Bunyan Conference in PA.

  • i used to travel from pikeville ky to hear God speak through this great servant of His. the world is a little worse off without him.

  • Whats the date of this sermon?

I'm "button" by the way.. lol

    -C

  • thiswas a great man of GOD elder, i miss him comming to tn rip elder ward

  • wow, the same theme in ephesians?, there are several themes in every book in the new testament that can be found in every other book in the new testament... you just randomly told me to read ephesians without a certain scripture is what actually happened. it's ok.... is God willing that any should perish? Does God want all men to be saved? answer carefully

  • Jesus clearly tells us that all that the Father gives to Him will come to Him. If God wants all to be saved, then you must answer why the Father doesn't give ALL to the Son. Refer to John 6

  • Comment removed

  • The call of the gospel is universal, all men are called to repent & faith in Christ. But, because of our totally depraved, sinful nature, man cannot understand or attain to spiritual things, nor does he want to ( I Corinthians 2:14) Man is a slave to sin and cannot free himself.

The father elects & sends the call, Jesus redeems them by His blood & The Holy Ghost draws them in. Jesus is The Vine and we are the branches. Without Him and His work in our sinful hearts, WE CAN DO NOTHING."

  • @theJshowman

Ask yourself this..

  • @theJshowman Well that settles it. God doesn't accomplish His will & His plans & desires are thwarted. And I thought Isaiah 46:8-11 was true, stupid me. Read 2Ptr. 3 including just verse nine, & it will tell u who the "any " is. As for 2Tim. again context but not only that, the unclear(this isn't) is interpreted by the clear. Are there any clear passages showing God not wanting some 2 repent & believe unto salvation? YES. Jn12:38-40. Lest means prior action is taken to prevent what follows lest

  • @theJshowman This usage of "lest" is also in places like #1Genesis 3:22-24 with problem before lest & preventative action following "lest".#2 Eph.2: 8-9 where the grace, faith, gift, prevent boasting("lest" any man should boast) Did God desire all the men ,women, children in the flood 2 be saved? Guess He kinda botched that by declaring every intent of thought of their heart only evil continually & then wiping them out sending them all 2 hell only saving Noah &family. God favored Noah by grace.

  • @theJshowman yes god wants everyone to be saved because he is a merciful god, But it does not say that he wills it, if god willed it it would be, but it says that god doesnt want anyone to parish, not that he wont let anyone parish.

  • how can you base a sermon off of something not in scripture... and why should i read ephesians if your base was in romans lol... research "the election of grace", this is for everyone, may i remind you of the passage that said "God is not willing that any should perish

  • Because the same theme from Ephesians is found throughout the New Testament, such as Romans. No need to lol.

You must ask yourself why and how is there a remnant? Answer- according to the election of grace.

    Romans 11

5 Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

  • Wow!!! That is some excellent sovereign grace preaching. I noticed the individual that you were responding to quoted only part of 2 Peter 3vs.9. If he would read it all he would notice that Peter was talking about the "us" who God is longsuffering to. Peter was writing to the elect of God (1 Peter 1vs.1-2, 2 Peter 1vs.1,etc..). The bible tells us that God grants repentance, so if one is to repent it will be of God. AMEN

  • 48speed,

you beat me to it! lol....

My guess is that theJshowman will not directly respond to your point; that the context of 2nd Peter is the elect and God's gathering of His elect.

  • what about 1timothy 2:4 God who will have all men to be saved.... that word will was interpreted desires to or wants to have.... i don't care what anyone says in this whacked up theology thinks.. God wants every person he created in his image to be saved and live with Him forever... to think otherwise is a mistaken interpretation of scripture... PERIOD

  • Jshowman,

I guess if you're that closed minded then there is no point to try and explain it to you...but I must say, close-mindedness is NOT a desirable Christian trait when it comes to scripture interpretation.

  • Wrong!!! You believe in a hand wringing God who wants and wants. My God is a Sovereign God who does as He pleases. In John 17 I read "As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him." Only those "elected" are given to the Son. He "has power over all flesh" and that DOES NOT mean He is waiting for a decision from man.

  • i see... good ole universalism aye? guess you've completely thrown out romans 10:9

  • I love Romans 10 vs.9. However, only those given to the Son by the Father will confess. Depraved man is happy to stay in his sins until he is called out of darkness into His marvelous light.

  • well now you're dancing between universalism and calvanism... where you at?

  • Your good at throwing around labels for people but poor on the scripture responses. I just quoted you scripture and thats it. Jesus when asked why He spoke in parables said in Matt. 13,"He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given." Seems God would be against that if He really wanted "all" to be saved???

  • he spoke parables to conceal mystery and revelation, It's the pursuit of wisdom in Him that he rewards with revelation. Don't just throw scripture out of context, He Desires all men to be saved, i don't know what your theology does with that plain and simple text but the God of the Bible created every human being to be born again and live with Him forever. Remember he said Hell was not made for man but for the devil and his angels... he never intended man to go to hell, but yet they will. Hmm

  • Come on now. The Bible is clear. To some it was given to Know and to some it was hidden. The natural man can't understand spiritual things, he doesn't seek spiritual things, he is at enmity with God. You make God to be a failure. He wants this to be so, but can't do it. He creates this to be so, but He fails again. That is blasphemy! Your decisional regeneration gives man glory for making a choice. Salvation is of the Lord. I think we will just have to agree to disagree and leave it at that.

  • was this "natural man" created by God?

  • @theJshowman 2 Peter 3:9 is the verse you cited, read the entire verse and who the subject of the verse is, and who the epistle is addressed to.

  • @theJshowman - the verse you cited was 2 Pet. 3:9 which reads in part; "... but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance." Who is the "you"? ANSWER: "Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained a faith of equal standing with ours by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ" 2 Peter 1:1. The "you" is the elect of God. You just cited one of the best Calvinistic verses in all of Scripture!

  • i have several times. must not be worded the same way he said it... can you tell me where it is?

  • No body said it was a direct quote from Scripture.

    Romans 11

5 Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

  • where is "were it not that God had chosen some, heaven would have none"... how can you preach non-scripture?

  • Read the book of Ephesians

  • flowers, water, fire, night, little babies, none of these things can be used as an analogy to show the similarity of a sinners repentance to God.... God said IF you believe, Paul said IF you believe and confess Jesus you would be saved... God is not willing that ANY should perish. Several times does the bible put an IF pertaining to your response to what he OFFERS.

  • RiP...MY PASTOR & GRANDADDY ELDER DJ WARD!!!!

  • What a blessing. I belong to a church which claims to be sovereigh grace, however it is hardly mentioned and never preached. How my heart aches for this type of preaching....

  • POWERFUL!!

  • Thanks for posting this video, Phil. Not a day goes by that I don't miss Elder. But his voice still resonates, loud and clear. I love to hear his plain, powerful messages. Sovereign grace ... still amazing.

    Blessings to you, my friend,

    Jim Mc.

  • I've never heard anyone preach like that before. That was amazing.

  • Keepin the Reformation alive! Praise be to Yahweh!

  • Very sound message.

Anyone who claims this is not a biblical doctrine, I pray that God open their hearts, and show them the selfish desires that lie within.

All of us want to claim victory, but very few of us realize where to attribute the victory! Praise God! I am a sinner, and could not save myself!

There is only ONE way to experience victory, and forgivness of sin... and his name is Jesus Christ!!!

  • Praise God!!

  • What a blessing.

  • Amen and Amen! GODS' CHOICE!! 10**********

    Be mightily blessed....Diane. Thankyou Diligentile!!
