Just to rehash it for everyone: the clip is real, not faked. As far as I know, it was made in the 1980s as a commercial for MBB (the makers of the BO-105). I don't know the pilot's name, but AFAIK, he trained quite a long time before shooting the clip.

As for the music, yep, the clip is that old. (I think I saw it in some doumentary on TV when I was much younger... )

I fail to see how this is "insane" in any way? The pilot obviously knows what he is doing and knows the risks perfectly well. He knows the landscape by heart and trusts his skill and the helicopter he flies.

Reminded me of a Viet Nam vet bush chopper jockey we had many years ago in northern BC, even though he was an insanely good pilot we had to fire the guy as no one would ride with the crazy bastard as his flying was a lot like this video. I'm sure the only thing the guy was afraid of was heights.

Apart from that obviously the way he flew the helicopter is extremely dangerous, one small mistake or a technical problem and you're dead.

Lots of great pilots died as a result of technical problems. just for example Hans-Joachim Marseille one of the best fighter pilots of WW2 (158 air victories mainly against the RAF, 17 on a single day) died basically as a result of a defect engine which caught fire.

It's got to be a model RC helicopter with the sound of a real chopper added. But how does the pilot get to fly it when it's behind the trees and stuff? I noticed the scale looks all wrong in some shots,, but if it's a model it's still brilliant flying.

That's so crazy it's hard to work out if it's real or not. I thought it must be a big model but it can't be because the pilot wouldn't be able to see it for most of the time. If that is a real helicopter then it's just the most far out flying I've ever seen. I'll keep watching it and trying to see how it could be faked,, but so far it's got me stumped.
