I've used many OS since the late 80s / early 90s ( yes, even Windows 1.0, contained in 2 big floppy disk ) so guys, be thankful with whatever you have now, whatever it is, mac, windoze, it has come looooong way to it's current being.
As for me, i'm a big fan of unix / linux, and i recently switched to mac, because it has a real command line terminal :) ha !
lol, Yeh, Iv'e fully gone Vista now that I have an awsome stable version, Mostly all my software works with Vista, FL Studio, Sony Vegas, Adobe Photoshop, AVG, all my games including Silkroad, even my Zen Vision M just simply connects to it :-). But yeah, its really really cool and only uses 4MBs more Memory than XP odly enough, I'm not much of a Mac person, mainly because of what I love to do, and how I do it.
Yes, but its not all about the company, they have relationships with 3rd party companys, and they "borrow" the innovations.. Microsoft prefers to make an OS that works with a massive array of hardware and is the most customizable and is easy to write code for. Innovation is only an illusion that one company makes to make their product seem "better" to the average user.. I personally like WinXP better because theres more choice and head room for what I do.

macs dont need all that power caus it runs a more streamlined and efficiant os, windows does because it has to cope with a larger range of non standerdised drivers, applications and hardware that macs cant run. Its up to you if mac has all the software you need i would go with it...but if you build pcs or need certain software you cant....

What do they expect? The load the same web page on a MAC and Vista and it looks the same. Its a fecking web site, ofcourse its the same. RSS on IE7. Well RSS has been added to many browsers for a while, IE7 just has it intergrated.

I am a Windows user, about to go mac, and AGREE that Windows copies, but it just looks like Apple is afraid of Windows new development, being more secure and user friendly. Like on Apple site, it says thousands of viruses not on a mac and Windows is stuck in the 80's, it wont be the case in Vista.
Why would you go Mac? unless you NEED to spend your time admiring the UI instead of geting work done... Mac is only really for Video and Photo, but even then theres Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas on PC which are extremly good Editing programs.. Photoshop is a Mac/PC program too... but hey... your choice
They look more fun, have nice hardware/software, from what ive heard they are secure, and i find windows a bit dull and would like a change from the same boring UI. Ive been a windows user since i was 9, its a nice change, plus im a gadget freak!

I have,, 7 times a week actually, and I would have to agree with tayvannguyen. My Documents is completly seperate from the System files, and XP won't let you into the Windows directory without a full prompt and warning and you can't just accidentally delete the system files, they are protected, while in MacOSX you can move the system files to the trash and then it freezes and gasp! Your screwed!... Remeber this, It all comes down to the end user... Video and Photos Mac is better,

If you want a mainstream(= many commercial apps like Photoshop are available)+easy-to-use os with the power of bsd-linux, you'll have to go with mac.
If you don't need linux-shell/make..., but you want to play games you should use windows.
If you don't need/wantToUse commercial apps use linux.
