when i tried this in 2.49 i couldn't get it to work because after i add noise to the plane and deselect it (1:43 ish) the "pillar" and plane become 1 object? for whatever reason. and i tired in 2.57 as well but it wont let me add noise to it at all even after i subdivide. anyone know to over come this/these problems? but nice tut anyway it was easy enough fallow, blender is just being a bitch. (like usual for me anyway)
@HeroOnTheSquare The boolean tools are now in the modifiers and will now not work with single planes, it kind of sucks. If you figure out a way let me know because I really need this to work =(
Is there a way to make the two pieces, and have them together in their original positions relative to each other and attached as one object to a body until a specific trigger(Being shot) breaks them apart? Preferably with the main part still stuck to the body of the victim, such as in dismemberment? I thought maybe constraints that are ultra strict on the 2 objects that are then changed in game, but I don't know quite how that'd work in Blender's game engine.

@HeroOnTheSquare Edit: Will not work if the plane is flat.
