i have one, but only shot vids indoors at low light. outdoors it looks really nice and clean for a $200 camera (based on your vid). clean, bright, crisp, though it seems focus isn't dead-stable esp near the end when you blow dust off the lens.
THINGS GOOD - Fast, A1 quality, 24mm wide 2.8f lens, GREAT video, noiseless zoom in videos, stereo audio, small, light, loads of creative effects, 240fps video mode.
THINGS BAD - Its battery life is fair, texture of case can be slippery, case can be noisy if ur recording video (dry hands), HD video mode zooming screws with audio in loud areas (sounds like stereo2mono then back when done zooming), no manual controls, Video in low light is fair.
@manuel713 - Audio is fair, recording volume is poor. Pin hole mids are located on top. Thus allowing constant noise from handlers (my issue anyways) dry hands. This make lots of noise. Plus its really in the way if you hold the camera a lot by pinching the top and bottom with one finger, usually used for reverse shots by hand by the user.
If for vloging properly or like to record concerts, you NEED to use a separate digital audio recorder, like the Zoom H1 ($100).
@manuel713 - Its the same audio i believe as the 300, & has the same issue with sound zooming in loud conditions.
it would of been cool to get Digic 5, like you. I only got my 300hs since last years S95 still was expensive, even though the new S95 with digic 5 was nearly out. Mainly a cost issue.
I got my Canon 300HS 2 months ago. Was regularly $229 (with canon carrying case). I was able to snag it for about $179canadian, and the guy tossed in a good Sony 8gig class 4 sd card free.
@manuel713 Also you gave up a 24mm wide angle lens for a 28mm one. So thats sort of a negative, but your still digic5, so thats a plus. I just realized to my dismay for you (unless you don't care regardless lol) but other than that you payed more for nearly the same thing thats quite a bit cheaper price wise atm.
@MRm3dia what is the difference between the 24mm on the 300 and the 28mm on the 310? I got this cam to upgrade from my old SD750. I liked the bigger screen, Image stablizer.. and becasuse it was canon.. lol
@manuel713 - Sometimes i have a hard time explaining things. When you go fully wide (no zoom), how much of the picture you see on the screen is how wide the lens is. 28mm has a narrower coverage than 24.
If you had a 35mm, 28mm, 24mm lens, all took the same shot of the same object, from the same distance. starting with the 35mm, it would give you the picture. The 28mm would show it further away and wider, 24mm even more so. Wide angle lenses help best in tight or odd areas too.
@manuel713 Mind you if your not super worried, then its not a negative. 4mm isnt too much to worry about anyways. But the SD750 had a 35mm wide lens (i think?). So for you just going from that to the 28mm must be a big change. Now you can get and have to get alot closer. I rather get closer vs use the zoom. You Aperture will not let you stay at 2.8. And in cases of night shots, you will notice when you zoom it will get darker. This is why. Its a learning curve lol, a steep one. GL
Hey I Was Wondering How Did you rendering this ino its1080p buh everytime i do it it loses quality?? or what program you use to edit the footage PLZ I NEED THIS
how do i record in 1080 with the 300 hs? do i have to set it up or is it already ready? do I a better sd card? I have an 8GB sd, what would you recommend?
I have a ton of pro video equipment and I got this camera today, just to have a pocket camera. It's just to have in case. Anyway, your video is clear and actually good. Most of the time with 24fps, it's choppy. If shooting like race cars, it will be jerky, and 30fps is better. I am on the fence with the 300 hs, standard images are or quite a bit soft. I just tried the Nikon p500 and found just a tad better, but twice the bucks.
I have this awesome camera, but a 41/2 min movie is taking about 4 hours at 1080p to upload to Youtube on a Sunday at 8pm using Rogers Express broadband cable. Really? Seriously, 720p is what I'm doing from now on.
Good quality... my camera is sort of similar quality to yours... but yours is better cos you has the 1080p.... mine only does 720p- reason why I didn't go for one with 1080p is because of how long it takes to upload.
Hey hemi your subcribers has gone down:/, I have been your fan since you started around 200 subs, when you did the responce for thevideogamenerd0 or something like that, anyways, i will get xbox soon, we should do a dual com(:
