  • How do you get the lights on the house to change colors?

  • @SuperGrandisle I have the equal amount of red, green, blue and white lights on the house. Thanks for watching.

  • are those light string on the house is it per each string or is a square string's of the lights?

  • @Thegoodvideos101 they are strands, each section (6) on the wall of house has 700-800 lights per color (red/blue/green/multi) plus lights on the roof and trees and yard.

    thanks for asking.

  • I just put up a video of the same house(i think!) it was fantastic! Make sure to check it out!

  • Thank you so much for approval to show this as a beautiful example of beautiful work. Will let you know when we launch. Best of the best to you. Sincerely, Cheryl

  • May I use this beautiful presentation as an example of synchonization of lights and music on my soon to be launched website. It is so uplifting and inspiring. thank you for your review of my request. Cheryl Williams, San Antonio, Tx.

  • @cwilliams177 Thank you for the compliment and yes you may use it if you would like.

  • if you dont mind me asking how much do you spend a year on this stuff

  • @mariagdnm not counting electricity around $2000 a year.

    It's an expensive hobby.

  • how do you keep the house lights so straight?

do you use nails or clips?

  • @streaky1992 nails

  • @jerryb721 how many nails?

that should be a factor in your display:

    workmanship.

  • @streaky1992 oh my hundreds of them, I don't even have an idea of the real number

  • @jerryb721 hundreds.

    what keeps them so straight?

years of use, yes, but how did you work out the crinkled appearance of brand new lights?

  • @streaky1992 I always open the box and pull the cords straight before I hang them. This make them straight before I hang them and then the nails and pulling tight on the cords.

  • @jerryb721 how do you pull them straight?

I was trying a (apparently bad!) method with pulling the cords straight

and SNAP! the cord pulled out of the socket. Interesting, though, I did this with my other lights, and no other set did it.

  • Hey Jerry! i suggested you put strobes on your house and you did YAY :D

  • Awesome display! I just bought some LOR and DMX equipment and am already planning for Halloween and Christmas 2010. I am trying to find a cost-effective way of doing RGB LEDs. Are you using solid color strings in each color or are you using RGB strings with 3 channels per string? Are you using LOR to do all of this? Thanks for any insight you can give and congrats again on an awesome display!

  • @u1aWatchMe

Welcome to the the family of light enthusiast.

I use LOR and my lights are individual strands of red. green. blue and multi.

The multi I am changing to white this year.

I have seem the RGB and would love to have them but it would take huge dollars to replace my lights now.

I did find a place in China that sell the RGB I will send to you in a message.

    Thanks for watching

  • Pure Quality!! I want to use that song next year, You can do so much with it.

    5 Stars, Well done!

  • @857804 many thanks to you for watching and commenting.

I've seen your house and lights before and think you will do a great job with this song.

    Thanks for stopping by.

  • Wow this is something I would love to know how to do

  • Thanks bloodorigin for checking out my video.

This is not that hard to do, just time consuming.

There is a company call lightorama that sells the controllers and software.

  • Comment removed

  • If Holdman says it's good!.....who am I to argue?....5 STARS!

  • Thanks.

I think he was being kind, but it was definitely cool having him comment and it is cool having you comment.

I watched your Carol of the Bells again tonight and I love the way you did it.

  • I am trying to get a video guy here...my show this year is even better!...and as for strobes!...I have 10....havent used them on shows!....but it really irritates people when you put them on your golf cart at night and drive around!...lmao!

  • lol, strobes on the cart I can imagine that would be fun to see.

I look forward to seeing your videos from this year.

  • where do u get thos blinking lights that are very bright at 0:32 in the vid ive been trying to find them for my show for next year dont got lor right now next year im getting it and i reaLLy like thoes lights im only 16 and i love to put up alot of lights

  • thk man ive been trying to geat all the stuff i need for my show i know it aint gona be better then urs lol im 16 and ive been looking for sombody to give me some advise on building a mega tree if its not to much man

  • Sure I'd be glad to help. Send me a message and we can start there.

I can even share some of my sequences for you to see how I do mine.

  • oh and i got good idea for u man im gona do it its gona come out great at 2:25 thoes poles im gona have them tall over the houses and put stars on them so it look like it explodes in to a star

  • @MrTomuchbass4u I've seen them with stars and they do look good.

Search for Mitchell's Magic Christmas here on Youtube and you will see some

  • they do look good but the ones im gona build are as tall as the mega tree or taller

  • because my display is so wide, I organized my channels left to right, red first, then green & white and my arches, star & snowflakes.

I have a guy working on the star, but he injured his foot so it may not be until mid January that I get the star put up =(

  • Looks Great!

  • Wow what an honor coming from the man himself!!!

You have inspired so many of us.

    Thank very much

  • Jerry, your lights are truly amazing! How many lights are there in your wonderful display?

  • Thanks dodgytomato1.

I have 54,600 lights in total

  • yeah =) thanks bro

  • Are those just different color strings of lights? How did you attach them to the house? Killer display, still working on my first one.

  • Thanks ramjet67.

They are strings of lights in red, green, blue and multi.

I have nails at the top of the eves and at the bottom of the house.

    overall I have 54,000 lights

  • ok man thanks, ill try this year, and if not, theres always next year =)

  • trying is what counts right?

    Good luck working on them.

  • at timing 2:39 the red-green chases around the house, turning everything red as it goes. thats what it did in mine.unless you got the idea from Holdmans 2008 sequence. I kinda mixed 2007 and 2008 together in my sequence editor.

  • @Streaky1986 at 2:39 it ends but like I said I was imitating his styling a bit, and probably it just came out that way.

  • Im rubbin off on ya Jerr =3 just kidding.

whats the WHUSH noise at the beginning of the vid?

  • I think I meant 1:39 not 2:39

  • the whush noise it the freeway behind me and I didn't trim it when I put the mp3 overlay

  • it coincides with the lights turning on, its as if it gives the display a hint of "power"

  • @Streaky1986 now that you say that I listened and like the idea of a power surge sound. lol

  • how much would something like this cost to do tho?

  • @abbysal0demon Well 10 controllers like I have would be around $3000, plus all the lights, but you start small with like 2 controllers and lights

  • GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT I love the light tubes let me know what they are. i think next year i am going that route. Ran out of time this year with the characters i guess i should start early next year.

I let everyone know about your projects keep it up . looks like next time we will create the how to for the characters and the how to for the lights i going to have to educate myself a little more on them.

  • Hey mageymann, thanks for watching.

The light tubes are just like arches, just not bent into an arch. If you can wrap an arch you can wrap these.

Only difference in mine is I used 1/2" PVC on my arched and 3/4" PVC on the light tubes for more rigidity.

  • cool i wanna do that with my house but my parents wont let me and idk how

  • It's easy to do my friend.

I have links of sequences people have shared and I have mine I can share as well.

Just work on your parents a bit and they might give a little.

Thanks for stopping by and checking it out.

  • great job

    5 star

    keep up the good work

  • Many thanks to you drumman360

  • not trying to get you to copy Holdman but if I were there I would help you with the red-in-the-green-and-chasing part :)

I tried it on my sequence editor and it was a snap

  • That was the point of imitating and not copying.

If I want his display exactly I have it.

  • Oh my goodness, Jerry ~ you've really out done yourself this year!!!!! I LOVE it! ~:)

    ~ Daria

  • Hi Daria,

Thank you so much for watching and commenting.

    Happy Holidays!!!

  • Wonderful! Great timing. I see no flaws. Great on imitating Holdman's sequence, except this one is a bit better! I finished my lights and sequencing yesterday, I can't wait to film. Good job Jerry!

  • Thanks Sean!!

I am looking forward to seeing your videos

  • By any chance, are you a member of Planet Christmas.

  • Yes I am a memember of lanet Christmas

  • Me too. My name is The light guy 1.

  • cool, I'll keep an eye out for you. I am jlb721

  • ur right jerry there is a problem with ur fades I noticed but great job still :D

  • @Streaky1986 LED don't fade to 0, but this year the fades were acting strange. I added some resistors to each string and now the fade acceptable.

You forgot to say I should give you credit for the larger Mary fan

  • resistors? what size in amps?

nice job with the Marty Fan and you spelled Marty wrong =P

  • 47k 1 watt resistors.

I didn't spell Marty wrong I typed it wrong, or was I giving credit to his wife Mary?

  • k1 whats K1? I dont really pay attention to resistor stuff, never learned. I just put up the lights and sequence lol :)

  • K1 is a grade of resistor. That is based on micro-farrats.

  • you forgot to say extra strobes inspired by streaky1986. just kidding. looks great Jerr. 5 stars

  • You just said it for me.

I'll give you credit, but getting a great deal on them made my mind up. I now have 45 of them

    Thanks for watching

  • WOW! Very nice!

  • @vladdysdaddy Thank you for for watching
